While the assumption for many was that the Arkham Knight of Rocksteady’s upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight was simply Batman, these new screens showcase the brand new original character created by Rocksteady to take down the Bat.

Looking remarkably like a a Gotham-sed Boba Fett, the Arkham Knight has been created by Rocksteady in corroboration with DC, and serves as the main antagonist in the finale to the Arkham series…

Now, first things first, we can confirm that these are in-game screenshots. Provided you've got the rig to do it, Batman: Arkham Knight should look every bit as good as this.

The Arkham Knight has been pitched as a militarised version of Batman, and he looks like a bit of a tech-head, armed to the teeth with tactical gear and a distinctly Batman-flavoured helmet. Check him out for yourself below...

Rocksteady seem pretty keen to gloss over Batman: Arkham Origins entirely, with the press release claiming that Batman: Arkham Knight is the epic finale to the Batman: Arkham trilogy. Zing. For what it's worth, GD's very own Jon Sutton thought it was worth series' fan's time, check out his review here.

Batman: Arkham Knight is due out on October 14th 2014 for PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One.

What do you make of Batman's new adversary?

Do you think we could be set for some sky-high system requirements?

Let us know!

If the game is optimized correctly I would guess a 500 Series NVIDIA or 6000 Series AMD card with a quad core CPU@3 Ghz should run this @1080P 60fps high set. Hoping that the GTX 800 series is ready. Mmm, Batman on shiny new hardware...

Hopefully Rocksteady can make a better story out of this with new gadgets and gameplay mechanics and whatnot, but still retain that "Arkham" feel to the game.

Agreed! But I think we'll be able to, atleast in the arena. In previous Arkham we could usually play as the villains. But yeah, it would have been neat to be able to see his side of the story.

Apparently they ARE ingame. You can tell from the aliasing effect.

Just to clarify here, CGI means Computer-Generated Imagery which is all games and CGI movies. What you mean is "is this pre-rendered graphics?" And no, it's not pre-rendered it's (although idealised) in game screenshots.
