Mario Kart is amazing. Mario Kart with anti-gravity is even better. Mario Kart with a Piranha Plant weapon is a seismic megaton of gaming goodness.

There’s a brand new Mario Kart 8 trailer out and if you’re like me - that is, a fan of racing games who doesn’t know a V8 engine from their left elbow - then this is the big racer on the horizon…

The Wii U’s stuck in a rut and it needs something mighty special to drag it out of the mire. Nintendo is pinning a lot of hope on its ever-present kart racing series, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to disappoint.

For the first time ever, Mario Kart 8 will introduce anti-gravity sections in its tracks, which allows for F-Zero-esque mind-warping twists and turns, with more than a hint of carnage thanks to a new feature that grants boost for hitting into other players.

New weapons the Boomerang Flower and Piranha plant will also be cropping up, while Nintendo has detailed some of the staggering 32 tracks set to be included. The majority of these tracks will be new to the franchise, while the retro cups re-envision some of the classic tracks from Mario Karts’ past, including Moo Moo Meadows, Royal Raceway, Dry Dry Desert, Donut Plains, and everyone’s worst nightmare - Toad’s Turnpike.

Check out the new gameplay trailer below to see Nintendo’s stunning looking new racer in action, which Nintendo claims runs at a rock-solid 60 fps.

Will Mario Kart 8 be enough for you to take the plunge on a Wii U?

Has Mario Kart been usurped by the Sonic & All Stars Racing franchise?

Ugh, you obviously know nothing about the Wii-U then...I guess that's probably Nintendo's fault though, since they haven't really marketed properly. Long story short, the vast majority of Wii-U games (and probably most Wii games too) are easily played without motion input. Wii-U in particular though, mostly cause of the gamepad...they obviously figured swinging around something that probably costs 1/2 the entire system was a bad idea...

Also, Pro Controller = win.

The sales of the Wii U are fine at 6 million. Not too shabby if you ask me. Lets look at that math. 6,000,000 X $349.00= $209,4000,000 (give or take a few million =)

Not too shabby, but increased sales would help devs and game companies stop being douchebags and actually bring some more good content to the Wii-U. Everybody gets stuck on the Wii, for some reason the idea of the original Wii remote has blown everybody into space thinking that's the only thing it does and therefore the system is useless. Meanwhile those of us who own a Wii-U are sitting here wondering how they can be such morons, not taking advantage of this great machine.
