Blizzard isn’t exactly known for mixing things up when it comes to new IPs. Even when it does announce completely new titles - as it did this year with both Heroes of the Storm and Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft - it can’t resist throwing in all the familiar faces from its old and beloved franchises, be it the Warcraft universe, Diablo or StarCraft.

In the spirit of this Blizzardy preoccupation, the developer/publisher has unveiled a new character trailer for upcoming MOBA Heroes of the Storm, where heroes from all of Blizzard’s franchises can battle it out in the arena. In this particular character trailer, it’s StarCraft’s Kerrigan we see giving her enemies the old run-around…

As well as some pretty cinematics introducing Kerrigan, the trailer also shows some footage of the Queen of Blades slicing up anyone who gets in her way with her zerg-infested mutations.

Heroes of the Storm is currently in its alpha testing phase accepting sign-ups for its beta. There’s no hint of a release date at the moment, but it looks like it could make a general release all things being well at the end of this year or the start of 2015.

Does this Blizzard Universe MOBA look up your street?

Heroes Of The Storm looks awesome, but I think the monetization way they choose (just like LoL) ins't a really good way. I prefer DoTA2's style.

That business model isn't really feasible for anybody but Valve, or for a game that got ultra crowd funded like Path of Exile. They can do it because they just say "oh look we have infinite money, HATS FOR EVERYONE!" For other devs that doesn't really work. Many people who hate Riot will say "oh well they could do it too, they have backing from Tencent." Yes, but remember that if the game stops being as profitable, and Tencent decides to stop giving them as much money, they don't have an online store or a vault full of kickstarter money. Same with Blizzard (though they do have WoW).

I cant say youre wrong, but, I dunno. I dont like beeing "forced" to buy a champion if I wanna play with it, looks like an elitist stuff. (continue)

Thats the only thing that make me prefer one from another, even the play style doesnt bother me, actually, is a motivation to play both and enjoy the diferences

I know what you mean. When I was first playing LoL I hated having to grind for so long just to get a good champ without paying. I got used to it after a while though, it got to the point where I wasn't a bad player and was able to enjoy the game enough that grinding wasn't totally unbearable. And I do think there are definitely worse business models out there (Dungeon Keeper Mobile). They are companies after all, they have to make money somehow.
