We knew it would happen eventually, but Square Enix has now registered the Just Cause 3 domain name ahead of a possible E3 reveal.
This lends credibility to the recent rumours that the open-world sequel is indeed in development, with series’ developer Avalanche Studios once more at the reins…
The domain name justcause3game.com was snapped up by Square Enix’s corporate domain name registrar, fanning the flames of a hotly anticipated sequel. Avalanche Studios is currently hard at work on Disney Infinity and the mysterious Mad Max game, so it’s currently unclear how far the project may have progressed, but we would expect Just Cause 3 to arrive in 2015 at the earliest.
It’s not the first time that news has leaked of a Just Cause 3, with studio boss Christofer Sundberg’s LinkedIn page giving a high-profile slip for work on an unannounced sandbox action game. "New installment in a very well-known game series,” reads his LinkedIn profile. "The game is being developed at Avalanche Studios New York studio and is scheduled for completion in June 2015 for next generation console platforms."
We'll be sure to bring you any more news on Just Cause 3 as and when we hear it.
For now, it’s all about Mad Max, which is being published by Warner Bros and expected to arrive later this year for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
