GRID Autosport came speeding over the horizon out of nowhere - announced last week for PC, and available to download come June 27th. It's not often we get such a rapid turnover from announcement to release, but it's already time to start revving your engines in preparation for Codemaster's latest.

Of course, a new game means new system requirements, so we've got you the specs you'll be needing to go from nought to sixty in record time. Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines, and come check out the official GRID Autosport system requirements...

GRID Autosport Minimum System Requirements

OS: Windows Vista 32-bit

CPU: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 or 2.8 GHz AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core 5400+

RAM: 2GB System Memory

GPU: Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT or AMD Radeon HD 2600 XT

DX: DirectX 11.0

HDD: 15 GB Free Hard Drive Space

Audio: Direct X Compatible Sound Card

GRID Autosport Recommended System Requirements

OS: Windows 7 64-bit

CPU: 2.67 GHz Intel Core i7 920 Quad-Core or 3.6 GHz Quad-Core AMD Bulldozer FX-4100

RAM: 4 GB System Memory

GPU: Nvidia GeForce GT 640 or AMD Radeon HD 7570

GPU RAM: 1024MB VRAM

HDD: 20 GB Free Hard Drive Space

Well race fans, you're in luck. GRID Autosport comes packing almost identical system requirements to its predecessor GRID 2, and odds are if you could get that up and running then you're going to be fine with the GRID Autosport requirements.

Those looking to meet the minimum requirements for GRID Autosport will be pleased to know that they are exactly the same as last year's iteration, requiring a pretty modest processor and graphics card. There's not much here to prove an issue for most gaming PCs bought in the last decade, although the 15GB installation for SSD users is a bit on the hefty side.

For the recommended GRID 3 requirements, the requirements are actually lower than GRID Racedriver 2, requiring just a 600 series Nvidia GPU rather than the 740 last year, or a Radeon HD 7570 for AMD users.

Some of the requirements for recommended settings on GRID Autosport are fairly high, particularly the quad-core processors. The AMD FX-4100 is currently an 8 on the GD hardware scale while the Core i7 920 is a hefty 9. It's worth noting in terms of storage also that GRID Autosport can take up to 20GB space, 5GB more than the minimum, presumably for higher quality videos.

Remember, you can always check out how well your PC can run GRID Autosport Requirements here, where you can check benchmarking and performance from other users.

Compare your graphics card to GRID Autosport benchmark chart.

What do you make of these GRID Autosport requirements?

Pleased that Codemaster's have managed to stick to last year's requirements, or would you have preferred a bit more progress?

Let us know!

I hope that this one will be more similar to Grid 1 than Grid 2, which greatly disappointed me.

Think there's a problem with the minimum.... the 8600GT is only DirectX10 but the game needs DirectX11

What's that cooling you have there?
Are these some badass overgrown heatsinks there, or am I just not seeing things right?

on my rig? well i run watercooling on the cpu and have stock heatsink of gpu with 3x140mm intake at front and side and 2x120mm push/pull exhaust on radiator at rear and 2x120mm exhaust at top, took me ages to get airflow perfect :) and i use high quality gelid solutions thermal paste :)

Sounds good. So at what temps is the GFX sitting with all that airflow around?

That's not bad. Not bad at all, man.
Ever tried it with case fans off/taken out of the case? They sure must be helping a lot, I remember seeing 690s hitting even slightly over 75C

With my side and fronts off (intakes) it hits 90c and then throttles down to below idle, made games unplayable haha, with just the fronts it hits around high 70's and with side being direct to the intake fan on the 690 (blows heat out the front and rear as it intakes from the center fan) im lucky to hit 70C with side and fronts on @ 1300RPM, i turn all the fans to max speed (incl. GFX fan) i hit high 50's low 60's

IMO racers aren't worth 60$, I wouldn't give more than 35-40$ for a racer and that's only if it's one of the best :)

From what other games have been demanding, despite being a racing game, I expected the requirements to be higher. Not that it matters to me, anyway - It'll still look great.

100% right. GRID 2 wasn't bad optimized, and i think this will work good aswell. And Codemasters doesn't force people to buy newest hardware to max the game.

Actually those recommended specs are pretty stupid... FX-4100 can just about match a first gen i5 quad like the i5-750 and is nowhere near the i7-920... And what is with those recommended GPUs...? HD 7670 is comparable to GT 640 and not HD 7570 and also; one would think the recommended GPUs would be a tad higher tier - something like a GTX 550 ti or HD 6770 at least... As for recommedned CPUs - i3-2120 and FX-4100 seem more reasonable...

It's a racing game, it can't get more demanding that this for now, the only way to make it hevier is if they do it on purpose and add useless code that just loads the processor more for no reason

tesselation is not as easy, have you tried tesselating in 3ds max or blender, it could just deform the model if not made and tesselated properly :)

Grid 2 will work cause its "optimized" for the HD series of the iGPU on the i3, i5 and i7 CPU's, mafia 2 i ran on an underclocked HD5450 1GB, im sorry to say but they arent really hard games to run, and even though this is lower req's to Grid 2 still doesnt mean you can run it :/ you might be able to if good optimization but you might not :/ sorry to put a bomb shell on your day.

Wow did you completely switch to Linux? Are Nvidia drivers good for Linux? Because I dualboot Ubuntu and Windows 7 so AMD drivers are horrible for linux because I get some weird screen tearing when I move windows and poor gaming performance.

BTW Gamespot tested some steam games on SteamOS with AMD and Nvidia GPU, so they've found that gaming performance is better on the Nvidia GPU.

I don't know about steamOS, but a friend with a gtx 760 couldn't stand nvidia's driver and it's performance in linux compared to his older hd7790

I'm messing with it these days, native games work flawlessly (DOTA2 on Steam, 0 A.D.), Windows-designed games work "unexpectedly" through WINE (Witcher 2 flawlessly but cannot access config tool, Burnout Paradise with weird sound echo, Age Of Empires III with weird framerate, Skyrim doesn't load due to SKSE dll bug...);
I didn't download any drivers because they were offered directly :)
I have dualboot with Windows (coz I really cannot afford deleting Windows with certain important programs I need at work), but it would be nice to completely jump on Linux-based OS with everything being smoother, faster and way more customizable compared to Windows :Đ

and with less viruses and errors, no restrictions, open source, free, much easier to optimize which makes it faster as you said and more user friendly due to being open source and free, but curse DitectX....I wish developers got back to OpenGL...I think it's much better and it's 10 times more optimized/faster than DirectX11....

YES a dev actually specified the CPU's instead of just saying "Intel core2 duo" or "Intel i7". DO YOU KNOW how much of a difference there is between my CPU and a 4930k, or even a 4770k?!!?!? I am 166% and 103% worse people, THANKYOU GRID for specifying.
