Wolfenstein: The New Order's unique brand of Nazi-slaying dramatics is nearly upon us, but to take the fight back to The Third Reich you're going to need a PC capable of playing it. B.J. Blazkowicz's latest escapades are looking pretty stunning, running on a heavily modified version of the id Tech 5 engine used for Rage. It's the very same engine that's powering The Evil Within, Doom 4 and Dishonored 2, so it should give us an indicator of what's to come.

UPDATED - Take a deep breath and head on in to check out the official Wolfenstein: The New Order system requirements...

Wolfenstein: The New Order Recommended System Requirements for 60 FPS @ 1080p

OS: Windows 7 64-bit

CPU: 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7-930 or  3.2 GHz Six-Core AMD Phenom II 1090T

RAM: 4GB System Memory

GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 or AMD Radeon HD 6850

DX: DirectX 11.0

NET: High Speed Internet Connection Required

HD: 50GB Free Hard Drive Space

UPDATED SPECS - [Ok, so that makes some more sense. These stats are not the bare minimum system requirements for Wolfenstein The New Order, as Bethesda reported intiailly, but in fact system requirements required to get Wolfenstein The New Order running at a next gen experience of 60 frames per second. Therefore they are actually the Wolfenstein The New Order recommended system requirements]

The RAM and the GPU requirements can take a backseat for now. They're pretty reasonable requirements for a modern game and what we'd come to expect after seeing Watch Dogs and Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor.

The real deal here is those insane processor requirements for Wolfenstein. Bethesda are claiming that you're going to be wanting an i7-930 as a minimum to play Wolfenstein: The New Order, or its six-core AMD equivalent, the AMD Phenom II X6 1090T. These two beasts both rank a 9 on the GD hardware scale.

This is all topped off with a whopping 50GB hard drive requirement, nearly toppling the mighty Elder Scrolls Online off its disk space demanding throne. We look to be entering a change in system requirements over the next year or so as the development companies stretch their wings with the new console hardware abilities so this could well be the state of things to come. Bethesda cheerily say "If you’re PC matches these requirements, then you’re good to go!"

So here are the more likely looking

Wolfenstein: The New Order Minimum System Requirements

OS: Windows 7 64-bit

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 2.66 GHz OR AMD Phenom II X2 545

RAM: 3GB System Memory

GPU: Nvidia GTS 250 OR AMD Radeon HD 6670

DX: DirectX 11.0

NET: High Speed Internet Connection Required

HD: 50GB Free Hard Drive Space

Thats a lot more reasonable in terms of system specs for wolfenstein The New Order.

Errr... The GPU requirements are REALLY low for this kind of a game, I'm surprised!
The CPU of mine should do it, I reckon.

no these are not predicted. they are the official overall requirements for the game. if you got this much or even more power than this then you can run this game well.

So reading some info on other sites as well as the info here, it says to get the next gen experience 60 (frames per second) and I'm guessing 1080p, you need to meet these requirements? Or am I understanding that wrong?

What you read on the other site was correct because apparently Bethesda made a correction and other sites updated their articles but but till now GD did not.

Well that is a lot better then these being the minimum requirements, it should mean the game will be more playable even if you have turn some settings down or lower resolution.

I don't like what is happening with games, now i can't even match the minimum sys req.
I want my games to be nice to look at, but when they push it too far i can't even enjoy the graphics because i cant run the f**** game !

You can only really be around 2 years behind in PC technology at any given time for PC gaming. Anymore then that and games are unplayable and choppy...Your CPU is well past 2 years old mate...

yep this is very true unless you have a high end pc. take mine for example. it isnt super high end of anything but i believe that i will be able to just run most games for the next 2 years even though my rig is 1.5 years old already. or at least thats what i hope :S. what do you think?

Why does Gd says this requirements as minimum ? Other websites says, there will not be any minimum or recommended requirements.

The high speed internet connection will be to actually download the game if you are buying it on steam or whatever otherwise with it being 50gb it will take forever to download. Also if they release DLC which I am sure they will. So this engine will be used on Doom 4, The Evil Within and Dishonored 2, that's 3 more games that will need a minimum of I7 CPU then.

now what is this? is this a trend of setting up as high as possible requirement? maybe games like dota 3 might have the requirement with titan black and 4770k for min and titan black sli and 4970k for recommended.

just giving an example on this trend is going to move. cause with watchdog and now this wolfenstein it is a bit ridiculous to set the requirement so high. 6850 or gtx 460 and i7 or phenom 6 core is simply just way too much even if it is some crazy high next gen game. not many people have that kind of system
