The four big conferences from Day 0 of E3 are over, and we’ve seen so many trailers now that it’s often difficult to pick individual footage out of the crowd. Some, however, stick with us, whether because of their graphics, their innovation or the story they tell.

It might not have the biggest budget or the flashiest visuals of the conference, but when it comes to sheer heart-wrenching emotion, Valiant Hearts: The Great War took our breath away …

The game is based on letters sent by soldiers from the trenches of the First World War, so we weren’t expecting it to exactly be laugh-a-minute stuff, but everything from the music to the rhyming prose to the stylized depictions of the horrors of the trenches got us a little welled up last night.

Valiant Hearts: The Great War releases on June 25th this month on PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PS4.

If you want to check out all our E3 trailers in one convenient place, don’t forget to check out Taher’s E3 2014 trailer roundup.

Will you be getting hold of this emotional tale from Ubisoft Montpellier? Did that trailer make you well up a little?
