We were expecting this, EA had a big relaunch up their sleaves and Maxis, the SimCity Series guys were going to be present at the Game Developers Conference 2012. An announcment of a SimCity Reboot was certainly on the cards. By all accounts this game is well into development and may be with us early next year.

There has been no mention of the title being SimCity 5 but rather a reboot of the SimCity line. We have managed to get our hands on the official SimCity system requirements already from our friends over in EA....

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4000+ or better or Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 2.0GHz or better

RAM: Windows XP: 2GB / Windows Vista and Windows 7: 2GB

GPU: ATI Radeon HD 2x00 or better* / nVidia 7800 or better* Intel 4100 Integrated Graphics or better*

DVD-ROM: 8x or better

Net: Internet on registration as it will use EA Origin download platform

*Minimum of 256MB of on-board RAM and Shader 3.0 or better support.

Notes: PCs using a built-in graphical chipset are recommended to have 2GB RAM

Obviously the game is still well into development period so they are uncertain about the Hard Disk Space required at this time although around 8GB seems reasonable.
