Rockstar has announced that GTA Online’s Heists have been delayed yet again, with no release date known as of yet.

The online Heists were originally planned to launch in Spring 2014, but Rockstar has apologised, admitting that the heists are taking more time to create than the team had originally expected…

Expect GTA Online's Heists to go down with all the finesse of a battering ram.

"We are very sorry for the delay, and are working hard to bring them to you as soon as we can. Please know that we are focused as always on making the best possible content for you to play and we are thankful to all of you for your patience, understanding, and support," Rockstar said in a statement.

The online heist mode has been hugely anticipated since Grand Theft Auto V’s launch, and while it’s still fairly unclear exactly how they'll work, in the single-player mode it involved selecting a crew and planning a heist and the getaway. Competition's heating up in the bank robbery scene though, with the Payday series reaching new heights and Visceral getting involved with Battlefield Hardline.

The cynic in me assumes the heist update will roll out alongside the next-gen and PC versions of GTA 5 in Autumn, giving gamers who've already picked up a last-gen copy a bit more impetus to hop in to the new remastered version.
