I hope you haven’t got anything planned for this weekend, because EA has announced that Titanfall is now completely free to play for 48 hours, thanks to a new program dubbed Origin Game Time. The program begins with the mech-toting multiplayer shooter, and gamers will be able to play the full version of Titanfall for a two whole days, commencing from the moment they first boot it up.
While EA is yet to have anything that could match Steam’s usually mindboggling Summer Sales, this looks to be the answer to drag gamers away from Valve’s store. Steam is already in the practice of offering up free weekends, but rarely on titles as huge as Titanfall...
Once you log-in to Titanfall the 48-hour timer will begin ticking down regardless of whether you’re playing or not, after which your access will be revoked. All the progress made during the 48-hours game time will carry on over to the full version of Titanfall should you stump up for a copy.
Boot up Origin now and you should find Titanfall available to download under the Free Games tab, but be be warned it’s a pretty hefty 48GB install and 21GB download. As I type this it’s not actually available in my Origin client, but the update should be rolling out throughout the day.
Origin Game Time isn’t the only kind gesture EA has shown as of late, with its Origin store also recently giving away free copies of Battlefield 3, Plants vs Zombies, and Peggle. There’s no word yet on what other goodies EA plans to offer for its program, but we wouldn’t mind betting Battlefield 4 will rear its head sometime soon…
Are you preparing to Titanfall? What do you make of EA's new-found generosity? Let us know!

You know, after reading some of these posts, I have to say, that there are some whiny little bastards on this site. It's not EA's fault that you guys either don't have decent internet in your area, or you're too cheap to pay for it. Me, it took half a day to download it, which I did while I was away at work, so it was ready to go when I got home. I do think it is a bit boring, but hey its free.

If its a 21 Gb download why did i download 50 Gb? But it did not bother me with my 25MB/s internet speed.
EDIT:
PC Specs
I'm starting downloading it. Then I saw how much GB I have to download. 50,54GB....
FUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!
PC Specs
So they ARE giving the game away. I didnt see anything in the Beta which might require more than 1 hr on each map to experience. So thats 30 hrs max. 48 hrs is just overkill for this game.
PC Specs
LOL it will take more than 48 hours to download it
PC Specs
the countdown doesn't start until you start playing it.
PC Specs
that's...actually better than Steam's free weekends, since they count regardless if you're downloading or not (as far as I know) and this is an interesting direction for Origin.
PC Specs
No thnx,Im not getting a 21 GB Game for just only 2 days
And With My network now it takes 1 hr 29 min just to download 1 GB
PC Specs
Ha ha it'll take me forever to download the game with my slow net speed, I should rather buy the game :/
PC Specs
WTH??? jus 48hrs an download 50gig.......no thanks EA
PC Specs
Download speed: 55 kbps. So 21 GB might take a complete week to download.
PC Specs
Does the Origin store crash for you guys? I can't get it to stay open for more than a few seconds.
PC Specs
How does that work ? I can't see the game on my library nor download it. Can somebody provide some help ?
PC Specs
Go to Store in Origin under free game there is game time click on that and add TitanFall to your library.
PC Specs
I am honestly not seeing it either, and many others are having this problem.
PC Specs
Thats great for people with fast internet not for me unfortunately.
PC Specs
if you have to patience for the download to end you can still play it man because as the article said the 48 hours start counting after you first launch the game :).
PC Specs
