Brace yourself ladies and gents, because we’re going to be hitting a bit of a gaming lull during the next couple of months. Despite October being more crammed than my local ASDA during reductions time, the gaming world in its infinite wisdom is leaving us to twiddle our thumbs for the next few months. Or not as the case may be.

Still, we’ve had some corkers over the past couple of weeks that should hopefully tide us over, while the recent GOG and Steam sales have ensured that we’ve got towering backlogs big enough to give us neckache . So, let’s take a look and see what everyone’s playing this weekend, as well you what you fine lot in the GD community have planned for your (hopefully) forthcoming days off…

Jon - After a pretty hectic weekend last week I’ll be kicking back with a wee bit of adrenaline-fueled racing, courtesy of GRID Autosport. I’m not normally one for racing sims but I’m hoping that Codemaster’s latest hits that arcade sweet spot I’ve been craving for a little while. I’ve yet to splash out on a fully-fledged steering wheel but that’s not going to stop me from engaging in a good old bout of road rage during my expletive-laden cruise limp to the finish line.

When I’m not feeling like a petrolhead I’ve started up a new game of Skyrim which I’m beginning to sink my teeth into. I’ve got a serious weakness to playing as stealth/thief classes which always seems to make my interest wane once I’ve ploughed a few hours in. This time I’m basically the archlord of destruction and those dragons won’t know what hit ‘em.

Felix - In this quiet release time (lets not despair, we can all play our backlog of steam sales and it’s only a handful of weeks until the year’s annual flood of massive releases, Sept to Nov) I am pretty excited to sink my teeth into Sniper Elite 3 this weekend. I am going to orchestrate an online gaming session with Squee, as Sniper Elite 3 can be played co-op all the way through its main campaign. Although it would have been cool to also get a sniper-off challenge where I would pop Squee’s pretty little skull from 50,000 yards. Yes I am that good. Arrrghh! where did you come from Squee? Dont creep up on me like that. I was just...errr...telling everyone how we will be shooting nazis together and you will be covering my back with your freakishly extraordinary stealth and gun skills.

Squee - You can’t see me, as I am like a shadow… And when I’m not playing Sniper Elite 3 with our soon-to-be-headshotted editor-in-chief, this is the time of year when I like to play a long, involved game of Freecol, the freely available version of Sid Meier’s classic Colonization. Naturally, I play as the English, and this Friday - a national holiday of some kind or another here in America - I like to declare my independence, and then purposefully lose in flamboyant form.

Chris - I’ll be sat in the sun with a crate of beer, a soggy chicken and my phone/tablet, playing all kinds of random mobile games. The first three Blackwell adventures are coming out on iOS, so I’ll be replaying those and remembering how awesome nostalgic low-res point n click games are. I’ve also got Whispering Willows, a creepy 2D horror game, to keep me occupied/fill my PJs when the sun’s gone down.

Katie - I had plans, such wonderful plans, to watch the semi-finals and finals of Wimbledon this week. Since, however, my top two players in both the men’s (Murray and Kyrgios) and women’s (Williams and Lisicki) are now out, I will mainly be spending my weekend sulking. If I get around to gaming, I’ve been meaning to replay The Witcher 2 through again for a while, so I might have a go with that. I’ve also got beta access to Wasteland 2 sitting looking longingly at me from my Steam account, so I could give that a shot too since it looks like the weekend weather will match my feelings about the tennis; grey and miserable.

Divayth - I have plans, such wonderful plans, to watch the quarter-final match Belgium versus Argentina of the World Cup this weekend. But when I won’t be a flag-waving, tricolour body-painted lunatic, I will be playing Divinity: Original Sin. I’ve been following the production of the game for a long while now and always doubted whether or not I should get it. But the first scores coming in after its release and the persuasiveness of my friend Lagavulin finally pushed me over the edge.

Oratane - I am playing Battlefield 3,as well as a little bit of Battlefield 4 now that the net code has been improved; I find Battlefield 3 to still be way more fun than its sequel. Like the others I will also jam some Sniper Elite 3 when I get the chance!

Auntarie - I'll be going out of town and my internet connection will be pretty slow unfortunately, so just some single player Borderlands 2 this weekend for me.

Over to the rest of GD then, what are your gaming plans for this weekend? Whether you're getting stuck in to a weekend of the latest and greatest multiplayer gaming, or finally finding time to finish off Baldur's Gate, let us know what you're up to below!
