The crowd-funded intergalactic juggernaut that is Star Citizen has smashed through more than $48 million worth of funding, with Cloud Imperium head honcho Chris Roberts announcing a new $50 million stretch goal.
The new stretch goal promises to add full blown alien languages to Star Citizen, with real-world linguistics experts being brought in to create distinct dialects for three of the biggest alien races present in the game…
“Do you speak Banu? We will work with real-world linguists to create distinctive and realistic alien languages for Star Citizen’s three biggest alien races, the Vanduul, the Xi’An and the Banu,” said Roberts in a blog post. “No universal translators, no garbled animal noises: Star Citizen’s aliens will be speaking their own authentic languages!”
To celebrate cruising past the $48 million mark Cloud Imperium debuted a new bomber, dubbed the Retaliator. There’s only concept art to go on just yet, but they are working on an in-game advert for the ship to be revealed at a later date.
