The world’s fourth ever Dota 2 International tournament grand finals finished yesterday, with winning team NewBee coming away with a cool $5 million in prize money.

A best-of-five contest in the final saw NewBee defeat fellow finalists ViCi Gaming in four closely-fought games. ViCi nicked the first game before team NewBee steamrollered to three wins in a row, grabbing the massive prize fund in the process…

Winners NewBee grabbed the coveted trophy and the huge $5 million prize fund.

NewBee had a time time during the beginning of the Dota 2 International, barely scraping through the playoffs but have continued to impress in the build up to to the final. The all-Chinese team was only founded earlier this year, and consists of Chen "Hao" Zhihao, Zhang "Mu" Pan, Zhang "xiao8" Ning, Jiao "Banana" Wang, and Zhaohui "SanSheng" Wang.

Runners-up ViCi will have to make do with a ‘miserly’ $1.5 million for reaching the final, while third-place US team Evil Geniuses managed to net $1 million for their efforts. The total prize pool of $10,000,000 was the biggest seen in eSports history and makes team NewBee the highest pro-gaming earners in the world.
