Ubisoft has published a new Assassin’s Creed Unity trailer, depicting a chaotic and bloodthirsty plunge through the Parisian streets as protagonist Arno is chased relentlessly by the city militia. His course takes him to a packed square, where he must prevent the beheading of Elise, an all-new member of the Assassin’s Creed Unity cast.
Elise is reportedly a key figure central to AC Unity’s story, a young Templar noblewoman who establishes an unlikely bond with Arno, despite fighting for the opposite side of the cause in the eternal battle between the Assassins and the Templars…
Of course it goes without saying that Ubisoft got itself in a spot of trouble for the lack of female characters following its E3 2014 unveiling of Assassin’s Creed Unity, particularly in the co-op mode with multiple avatars. The extra time and money that would be spent creating female character models for AC Unity prevented their inclusion, but Ubisoft has clearly had a good rummage down the back of the sofa to get Elise included.
Ubisoft also sends word there’s also a collectible figurine of Elise going up on its site, while an accompanying novel will also arrive featuring her as the main protagonist. It’s imaginatively titled Assassin’s Creed Unity, and is being written by novelist and Renaissance history buff Oliver Bowden, scheduled for release in November. It’s all gone a bit Book Debate hasn't it?
Assassin’s Creed Unity is out worldwide on October 28th for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. What do you make of the new Arno trailer, and the new character Elise? Does the prospect of an accompanying book entice you? Let us know!
