Did someone say Titanfall? Activision has released the first footage of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s multiplayer, doing its best Spinal Tap impression and turning it up to 11. Call of Duty has always been known for its fast-paced warfare but nothing on a scale like this, which sees soldiers donning futuristic exo-suits and nipping about cataclysmic maps with gleeful abandon.
With the all-new exo-suit players players can perform massive double-jumps, jet-powered strafe moves, and high-speed dashes, slides, and slams. It’s Titanfall meets Quake and it looks like Sledgehammer Games mean business.
We knew from the official reveal back at E3 that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was bound to contain a few surprises in comparison to the normal yearly rehashes, and Sledgehammer’s debut doesn’t disappoint. Activision claims that not only does the exo-suit come with the aforementioned movement abilities, but also six extra abilities like riot shield and cloaking options that can be added to customised loadouts.
Speaking of customisation, nearly 350 different weapons will be available in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, each with dozens of customisation options totalling 2 billion unique player loadouts. From the trailer it looks like it plays a good game, offering lightning-fast twitch-based shooter skills with some dynamic and varied environments. The impending tsunami is a sight to behold, but it remains to be seen how well it’s handled from a gameplay perspective.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is out November 4th worldwide for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. Activision also sends word of a Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Day Zero Edition, giving fans who pre-order the game 24 hours’ early access to the game from November 3rd, as well as two new custom weapons, because 350 clearly isn’t enough.
