Why is the main hero always the dark-haired, cardboard cutout everyman, while his sidekicks are the girl, the beefcake, and so on? Why can't the beefcake be the main guy? I mean, I suppose it has something to do with being able to put yourself into his shoes and just sort of overwriting the hero with your own personality, but when we as gamers are forced out of this everyman comfort zone, we always seem to do Okay - look at the crazy-haired Cloud from FFVII.
Fewer generic heroes, please, gaming universe, and more mental-looking oddballs. Roll on Max Payne III.
