More than 12 minutes of footage has emerged for Lords of the Fallen, and it looks like Deck13 Interactive’s answer to Dark Souls is shaping up to be more impressive than any of us had imagined. It’s Dark Souls taken to the next level and it looks like it wants to beat you to a bloody pulp.

The latest gameplay footage shows an all-new area with a range of beasties to slice and dice. Also included is a glimpse at a new boss called the Infiltrator Lord, which looks like it packs quite a punch thanks to its scythe-like blades for arms. This bizarre human/spider hybrid is capable of a multitude of different attacks that will put would-be dungeon raiders through their paces.

It has to be said the new footage looks a teeny bit beautiful, if warped monsters and gallons spilt blood are your thing. The visuals have a Darksiders vibe that’s got us intrigued to explore these otherworldly environs, provided we're not turned to mincemeat by the variety of marauding abominations skulking around.

While Lords of the Fallen wears its Dark Souls influence proudly on its sleeve, there’s definitely enough here to make this one to keep an eye on. What started out looking like a clone is quickly developing into its own beast and we’re eager to get some hands-on time with it later this week at EGX.

Lords of the Fallen is to be published by Bandai Namco on October 28th in the States and October 31st in Europe for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Do you think Deck13 is biting off more than it can chew by taking on the might of the Dark Souls series? Could it match up to that series or even prove more of a commercial success? As always, let us know below!

This game looks so amazing. I love how they took ideas from Dark Souls. I think more games need to be like the DS series.

All the enemies and the boss poses no threat at all.

And some people says this will be better than Dark Souls or even Bloodborne.

I think the guy was overpowered/geared for this area. In some of the other videos I've seen, the enemies are quite powerful and require a good amount of skill. Go watch some PlayStation Access videos to see some real people playing it.

Yeah honestly I'm one of those people that notice 10 fps difference but never notice screen tearing.
But this is just atrocious, every 5 seconds there is a massive tear and it looks just alpha.
How is this supposed to be released in October when it's this badly optimised?

i don't think screentearing has anything to do with bad optimisation.. Maybe it's because the incapability of the hardware (mind you that the platform that is used to play the game is PS4) to lock the framerate. Thank god the PC is going to have V-sync option.
