The Evil Within Minimum System Requirements

When Bethesda and Tango Gameworks revealed The Evil Within system requirements last week they were every bit as shocking as the game hopefully will be. The GPU, VRAM and CPU requirements were enough to get any PC gamer cowering with fear, but now they're back with The Evil Within minimum system requirements which should be a little more reasonable.

Tango Gameworks' blood-spattered horror adventure is one of the most anticipated titles this Fall, and when you've got Shinji Mikami, the brains behind the Resident Evil series, behind it, it's not difficult to see why. Before you get tucked into this nightmarish feast though, Bethesda has sent out word of new requirements for The Evil Within that are slightly more forgiving than those we were shown last week, so read on to find out whether your PCs going to be butchered or scrape through alive.

The Evil Within Minimum System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 (64 bit) / 8 (64 bit)
  • CPU: Intel i7 Quad Core or similar (Intel Core i7-860S / AMD Phenom II X4 965)
  • RAM: 4GB of System Memory
  • VRAM: 1GB Graphics Memory
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 / AMD Radeon HD 6850
  • HD: 50GB

Now these are some more reasonable requirements but they're still certainly no slouch either. The GPU requirements have come right down for the ridiculous requirements revealed last week, and now you'll need a graphics card with just 1GB of VRAM and DirectX11 support to get The Evil Within up and running. Still, both the Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 and the AMD Radeon HD 6850 are relatively recent cards to have as an absolute minimum requirement.

RAM and HD requirements remain identical but it's the CPU demands that are most eye-popping. Where the recommended requirements asked for an Intel Core i7, we expected to minimum requirements to take a significant dip. This doesn't seem to be the case, with Bethesda claiming you'll need an i7 quad-core processor or its equivalent as a minimum, the weakest of which is the Core i7-860S 2.53GHz and the AMD Phenom II X4 965, both currently ranking a 9 out of 10 on the GD hardware scale.

As always these are just Bethesda's official requirements, and we wouldn't surprised if The Evil Within is playable of much weaker hardware, particularly in terms of CPU requirements. Keep checking back with Game Debate and we'll be sure to benchmark The Evil Within on lower-end systems.

You can check out the original The Evil Within recommended system requirements released last week here.

Remember, you can always check out how well your PC can run the The Evil Within System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarking and performance from other users. Compare your graphics card to the The Evil Within GPU benchmark chart.

Those are the minimum system requirements...? Is this game running on CryEngine 5 or Frostbite 4...? Even BF4 and Crysis 3 had a minimum VRAM requirement of 512 MB...

they have to stop making it 50GB on thr HDD, Every game needs 50 GB how big HDD do we have to have for these games?

I'd say at least 1TB is good.

yes, that would be enough for 20 games if they are 50GB each.

I hope the optimization is as good as shadow of mordor. I mean people thought that game had bad optimization because of the high requirements specially the vram.

That's why you shouldn't sweat worrying about optimization UNTIL the game is released.

Where the hell do these CPU requirements come from?
But probably like Shadow of Mordor system requirements, these are inaccurate. (I hope)

a bit high but within reason for a new game i guess. i should be able to do high or at least medium on this. not that i intend on playing it. too big of a coward for that xD

Here's the thing. The minimum i7 is from 2010, newer i5's and possibly even i3's should be able to play this game. The minimum required GPU isn't all that bad, I do realize that quite a few members will be unable to play it, but for the most part, reduced resolution and low settings should allow most to play this game!

i7 and gtx460 for minimum??? Even 4GB RAM isn't that low for minimum. That's sooooo 'next-gen'

I'm getting sick of this >.>

Don't worry it's just Bethesta
Wolfenstain The New Order had similar requirements and it worked good even on lower-end systems
