The Crew Optimal System Requirements

System Requirements Optimum 1080p PC Build Low vs Ultra Screenshots GPU Performance Chart CPU List That Meet System Requirements GPU List That Meet System Requirements

Brrrrmmmmm brrrm more The Crew system requirements news added in to the mix. If you missed our previous The Crew news on PC hardware needs from July then pop over and check that out, but todays news piece adds some optimum requirements to the its "can my hardware play it" list.

Not really sure what optimum requirements are compared to recommended requirements but we will take a look at them anyway. I presume its just getting The Crew to play on your system without having to think about whether or not you should turn off any form of graphics setting. So lets call them Ultra requirements, in keeping with our usual terminology.

The Crew Optimal (Ultra?) System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 8/8.1 64 bit
  • CPU: AMD FX-8150 3.6GHz /Intel Core i7-2600K 3.4GHz or better
  • RAM: 8 GB of system memory needed
  • GPU VRAM: 2048 MB graphics card memory
  • GPU: AMD Radeon 7870 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX670
  • HD: We dont know exactly what the GB hard drive needs will be at this time
  • DX: DirectX June 2010 Redistributable
  • ADDITIONAL: Keyboard needed, Xbox 360 controller (or compatible gamepad) is optional
  • Supported GFX Cards: NVIDIA GeForce GTX260 or better, GTX400, GTX500, GTX600, GTX700, GTX900 series; AMD Radeon HD4870 or better, HD5000, HD6000, HD7000, R7 and R9 series;
  • OTHER: Laptops of similar performance will probably work but are not officially supported

There we go then, some extra The Crew requirements to go along the recommended and minimum requirements that we announced back in July. So in an attempt to clarify what these are, they are most likely top end PC needs for The Crew. If you have a PC with these specs then you can sit back and enjoy the full show that The Crew will have to offer, presumably if you have a 1080p setup. If you have a 4K setup (you lucky little gamer) then you will likely be in need of much more hardware firepower to get The Crew looking completely pretty. Note that The Crew is only going to work on 64 bit operating systems.

Sorry... Even if this game's system requirements are exaggerated, GeForce 210 stands no chance whatsoever... My Intel HD 4000 is 70% more powerful than your 210 and it probably will struggle...

hmmm.

An gtx 670 is much stronger than my graphics card, but hd 7870... maybe not so much.
Does it mean that this game is more demanding for nvidia gpu's or it's just a mistake?

This game ran fairly well even in beta. Could just bump settings all the way up and be done with it. Even my resolution taken in consideration (2560x1080) it is not that demanding to get it running in 1080p. But that fps limit at 30 was just a pain to watch..

I think it's time to upgrade my cpu to an 8 core, but my gpu stays at least 2-3 more years.. It's been only months since i bought it

That is weird, I though the FX 4core should have been a beast and seeing now that my 1st gen i5-560M (yes, laptop cpu) is only 27% worser. It is a laptop cpu, which is worser than a desktop cpu

I thought the same when I bought it mate, but as it seems games don't have the same opinion, especially ubisoft

How can you compare AMD FX-8150 3.6GHz with Intel Core i7-2600K 3.4GHz ? Even the fx 8350 performs worse than i7 2600k in most games. O.o

Yeah, it's bad, :D but, It's not really bad, and what about Radeon HD 7870 and GeForce GTX 670 ??? It's really odd ... -_-
As we know, GeForce GTX 670 is better than Radeon HD 7870 ... :D

mostly no GTX 680 &#60 RADEON HD 7970 , this radeon still kicks ass for gtx 680 , even in some benchmarks radeon hd 7970 better than my gtx 770 :/ ratings not right , hd 7970 is powerfull still but no gtx 670 = hd 7970...

Generally speaking:
GTX670 is in between HD7950 and 7970
GTX 680 is in between HD7970 and 7970GHz edition
GTX 770 is a bit above 7970GHz edition

They make passive PCIe adapters that allow desktop GPUs to be used on laptops.

It is correct. @LeadStarDude I use the PE4L (I should have used the EXP GDC, it is better and cheaper). I could play it at medium settings, but my cpu bottlenecked it, so I couldn't enjoy higher framerates, but it was around 30 fps.

Yeah GreekBlood a newer laptop with an upper end mobile Haswell i7 would eliminate the bottleneck. You make me want to buy an adapter & a GTX 980. ;)

it is even possible to do a sli with 2 desktop gpus, but you will need 2 free slots, which you can't find in laptops that quickly.

LOL! I was meaning just one 980 not two of them. One 980 is stronger than my 780M SLI. However I am already using SLI in this laptop. Not sure what you mean by two slots?...

You will need a combi of this:
2 mPCIe slots
or
2 Expresscard slots
or
1 mPCIe slot and 1 Expresscard slot.

And you will need 2 adapters, and there is a chance that sli won't work (check at techinferno about that eGPU stuff)

Well as I already said I had no intention of running SLI via an adapter. If I decided to do this desktop GPU thing I would only be doing it with one card anyway. ;)

There is one thing you need to know. If you want to use almost 100% of the gpu, your mPCIe should be v3.0 (check with HWInfo32/HWInfo64) and the adapter should have a 16x slot (like the EXP GDC), and the adapter should supprt v3.0 (I think the exp gdc supports 3.0). With a 1x slot on v1.1 I can get up to 85%

Awesome. You should get the EXP GDC, it supports v3.0 so you will have the full advantage on it. But, you can install 2 kinds of drivers. 1 is the optimus (which you can run on your internal screen (this eats fps like a boss. there were some tests done, 90 vs 140). 2 official newest drivers, but need external screen.
