In videogames it seems we're always perpetually obsessed with being the little man, fighting out against the hordes of oppressors. It's what makes strategy games so refreshing. No longer are you concerned with the fate of a single man, but instead dictating to millions, marching them off to war in a gloriously doomed fashion.

Whether putting the final touches to a carefully crafted plan, or just sending off your troops to die in a hail of gunfire, strategy games are a PC mainstay. So here we are at the tail end of 2014, looking out at the great beyond. There's some absolute crackers lined up for 2015 when it comes to strategy and management, so if you love lording it over everyone then head on in and check this little lot out...

Total War: Attila

You can always count on The Creative Assembly to deliver the goods on Total War. Whatever you may think of some of the historical periods, the strategy gurus always crank out some of the best warmongering out there. And when it comes to wars, who better to call upon than the numero uno Hun himself, Attila. Building on the success of Total War: Rome II, Attila is the flipside of the coin, giving players one of the world’s greatest empires from the off, and tasking them with trying not to raze it to the ground.

ScreamRide

We’ll be the first to wonder why exactly this isn’t making its way to PC just yet. This Xbox exclusive looks born for a mouse and keyboard, so we’re hoping Frontier Developments, who’ve worked on PC favourites like Elite: Dangerous and RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, will be able to port it over soon enough. Drawing on RCT3 its basically a rollercoaster building simulator, albeit with fully-feature physics and destructible buildings, the aim being to cause as much carnage as possible with your wayward rides. Equal parts brutal and hilarious, this is roller coaster building taken to its logical extreme.

Cities: Skylines

Would-be mayors suffered a crushing blow when SimCity arrived last year, but Paradox Interactive is there to pick up the pieces with Cities: Skylines. Seemingly designed with the sole purpose of ticking all the boxes of things that people wanted improved in SimCity, Cities: Skylines provides practically limitless potential for city building, on a scale the likes of which we’ve never before seen.

Hearts of Iron IV

One for the most hardcore of strategists, Hearts of Iron IV is an unapologetic strategy set during World War II. It might be lacking the scope of Total War’s hundred-year-long wars but Hearts of Iron IV more than makes up for it its sheer tactical depth and opportunity to micromanagement. If you’ve ever wanted to see if you could win World War 2 as a militant Nepal then you need look no further, just brace yourself for an intimidating challenge.

RollerCoaster Tycoon World

Everything’s gone suspiciously quiet on this one, but there’s practically nothing more exciting on Planet Earth than a new RollerCoaster Tycoon. Atari has promised to right the wrongs of its microtransaction-riddle mobile outing, delivering a fully-fledged PC theme park experience. The few screens we have seen so far look gorgeous, so we have high hopes this could signal a classic series getting back on track.

That's some of our most anticipated strategy and management titles of 2015, what's yours?

Which strategy title are you most looking forward to?

Galactic Civilizations III is my most anticipated strategy. It was after all, one of the main reasons I turned PC recently.

In my mind, Strategy And Management Titles should also include simulation strategy games too as a category, but I see you do this already by having RollerCoaster Tycoon World and CitiesSkylines here, nice!

Time to get started on Age of Mythology: Remastered :D Played the original, including Titans expansion, for well over 1000 hours when I was a kid. Haven't played it in like 5 years.

Still one of my all time favorite games. The remastered version is great. Same good game but a lot prettier. Oh & Steam has mod support for it so you can make it even prettier.

I love Total War, but Rome II wasn't what I would call a proper Total War game. At least not the grand campaign part of the game. Too many options from the older games is missing. From what I have been reading Attila brings a lot of that stuff back into Total War. I am excited to see if they get Attila feeling more like a true Total War game than Rome II. It looks amazing! :D

I'm looking forward to the new features but does it really have to take a full game to bring back family trees. I'm a big fan of CA but they missed a trick on that one

They screwed up Rome II so bad that they had to just start over to get all the stuff back in that people have complained about missing. It was too much for them to just patch into Rome II. :(

Correct the title, it should say "Most anticipated turn based strategies". Besides Total War, my most expected list ain't any of these games but LotV and Blitzkrieg 3

Starcraft 2 story died in Hots, and I feel Blizzard is torturing himself to bring new units to sell Lotv. Since Rome 2 I dont trust Creative Assembly either.

I can't wait or attila. Rome is fantastic now and if they uses Rome 2 interface then game will be great. I still highly recommend shogun 2 for beginners though.

WTF? Rome II is almost the worst Total War title ever. The only one that has turned out worse than Rome II was Empire. At least Attila appears to resolve many of Rome II's issues, but I am not holding my breath. I am certainly not going to pre-order this time even though I really want to try it. This time I will wait & watch the Forums first.

Yes, but after reading someone's opinion it is normal to wonder how they acquired that opinion. Especially when you disagree with said opinion. I love Total War, but Rome II has been my biggest disappointment of the series. I am wondering why Shawnke08 thinks Rome II is "fantastic". That is why I started my reply with "WTF?". I am blown away & I would like to hear the reason Rome II is "fantastic"

suprizingly many has said they enjoy Rome2 most. I personally agree with Rome2 was disappointment, many flaws and cutting features. hopefully Attila is something waaay better. oh and gladly I don't have experience about Empire,it's only TW I never bought :D

continue: even I have more hours recorded in Rome2 than many would think about my disappontment(1300+),it's way behind Rome:Total War(EB) hours. that I enjoyed for years literally. I played it even waiting for Rome2.

Medieval 2 is still my favorite Total War game. Luckily I still have my disc, & with the disc's CD key you can unlock the game on Steam for free. I was able to take my old discs & get Medieval 2 & Rome 1 unlocked on Steam. The Steam version even includes all the expansions for free. :D

I am having fun with Rome 2. I didn't say I was the best in the series.and idk why ppl give negatives for opinions. that's communistic

well, for me Rome2 lacks feeling of previous TW titles. family tree,I used that. taken away freedom of choice of building in terms of roads and walls. campaing map is too small,by this I mean distance between citys are way too short, blitzkrieg since lack of better word.

gladly Rome2 has some good things I liked, like combined naval/land battles and realistic LoS. limited armies I like too

Why you buy when you don't even have Rome 1, Medieval 1 & 2, Empire, Napoleon, Shogun 2 ?
This games are only for Total War Veterans, so, don't buy it just because to say your computer is bad ass running it or just lame running it

did I just understood correct? u shouldn't buy Attila,if u don't own all TW titles exept Shogun(the first)? that makes no sense at all. same as u shouldn't buy ES5:Skyrim if u don't own ES:Arena.

To ZeRambo, I do own most other total war series games and I have spent countless hours on them. ( Probably 1000+ on the first rome) even if i don't, I would still have the right to say my opinion about this game.
BTW i have 189 hrs on record on Rome II so i know if its bad

Yep. I have almost 500 hours on Rome II, & even though I can enjoy it I know for a fact it is one of the worst Total War titles to date. The only one I liked less was Empire. Medieval 2 is still my favorite. I have them all. I started with Shogun 1 when it launched.

Attila is a whole new game. It is running on a modified version of Rome II's game engine, but it appears to have many of the things missing from Rome II added back in. Like family tree & swapping territory.
