Bloodborne Tutorial Gameplay Looks A Lot More Like Dark Souls Than We Thought

If you’re anything like me, the presence of a proper tutorial in Demon’s and Dark Souls would have been immensely comforting. From Software’s hack ‘n’ slashers can be all kinds of obtuse to newcomers, a fact not helped by their propensity of throwing hideously lethal enemies at you from the get-go.

The PlayStation 4-exclusive Bloodborne looks to be changing all that, scaling down the customisation options and making a more focused experience. A newly released tutorial video for Bloodborne however shows its lineage is very much from the Souls games, with familiar looking mechanics and combat systems, alongside some absolutely stunning environments.

Things definitely look a little faster paced here in Bloodborne, with a particularly nifty sidestep, but there’s no mistaking where its heart lays - it even features a very similar UI. Still, what is here looks very decent, and the gothic visual style certainly makes this look hugely appealing. While details are scarce it appears as if Bloodborne will feature a similar world structure as Dark Souls, with player progression through the city of of Yharnam aided by finding shortcuts to previous areas.

Bloodborne is out on March 24th in Europe and March 25th in Europe, exclusively on PlayStation 4. What do you reckon about this then, is Bloodborne a bona fide system seller for the PS4?

Why are 90% of the attacks aimed at the knee or genitals?

Looks kind of disappointing to be quite honest, it looks like a prettier dark souls, not that I'm insinuating that's a bad thing, but I expected a bit of "evolution" if you will.... I would have thought this was going to reinvent the wheel

Make it exclusive on PS4 is kind of bad move i think? Consider their previous games comes out on PC and was a success.

You're just mad, that only PS4 players will be able to play this game, because you want to play this so much. :D But I have the same opinion as you friend. Although I understand that From Software is just giving Sony a hand in "ConsoleWars"

Mmm yep, Sony published Demon's Souls in Japan but dropped it for the rest of the world, basically letting Bandai Namco pick it up. They've said before it's one of their biggest regrets, because then the entire Souls series would've been PS exclusive.

I'm slightly surprised From partnered with them again for Bloodborne after being dropped so readily. Still, looks awesome, can't wait :)

From split their teams when creating Dark Souls. Especially Dark Souls 2 which not made by the original creator of soul series, Hidetaka Miyazaki at all.

So I guess Bloodborne is the real spiritual successor of Demon Souls, and it stays to be a PS exclusive.

I cannot believe that Sony actually thinks ANYONE will pay over 400 euros for a single game; which is basically what that would be. I wait for emulators

And the emulator for the PS4 is getting along very quickly since the new gen consoles are just overmodded game pc's

And this is the only PS4 exclusive in existence?
And have fun waiting for working PS4 emulator. Will take 5+ years surely.

Fudgehog, the souls games are a very niche audience. Generally, they either are already on console or will never in a 1000 years get one
