It’s been eerily quiet on Cyberpunk 2077 front as developer CD Projekt RED’s been busy going full steam ahead with The Witcher 3. Since its announcement back in 2012 we’ve seen precious little of Cyberpunk 2077 save for some concept art, with no gameplay footage to speak of whatsoever, but the Polish outfit has confirmed that work on the sci-fi RPG is still ongoing.
"The first rule of Cyberpunk 2077 is that we don't talk about Cyberpunk 2077," said CD Projekt RED’s head of marketing and public relations, Michał Platkow - Gilewski, in an interview.
"On a more serious note, in short, communication-wise, we are now focusing entirely on The Witcher: Wild Hunt. Everyone is working crazy hard to give gamers around the world an RPG to remember. Worry not, Cyberpunk 2077 is OK, its time will come."
What little we’ve seen of Cyberpunk 2077 so far suggests it’ll be a sprawling RPG set in a futuristic dystopian world with hyper-advanced technology and a failing human society. Like The Witcher 3 it will be an open-world title , with players free to explore the vast Night City, although players will be able to choose custom classes and there will be a multiplayer component of some sort.
What’s clear is that we’ll begin to see a lot more of Cyberpunk 2077 once The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is out the door. With Geralt’s journey set to end in May, do you think CD Projekt RED will be able to hit the heady heights of The Witcher trilogy with its new title?
