The Games Workshop titles are coming thick and fast these days, with War of the Vikings developer Fatshark the latest to get in on the action. Warhammer: The End Times - Vermintide is a four-player co-operative shooter in the vein of Left 4 Dead, with the band of humans attempting to rid city of the Skaven ratmen.
While Warhammer: The End Times - Vermintide will have a heavy focus on weaponized combat, some classes will also be able to get up close and personal with a variety of melee powers. There’ll be five playable classes to choose from, with Fatshark only letting slip about two so far. One is a pyromaniac old Fire Mage who can burst into flames and kill herself with overuse of spells, while the other is a Witch Hunter equipped with pistols and daggers, holding a grudge against the Skaven for stealing his eye.
Vermintide will be mission-based, with the players stocking up on supply and gear from a central tavern location before venturing out. Here they’ll learn of new jobs around the city of Ubersriek, which has been over-run by the Skaven.
Seto to be ultra-punishing, The End Times: Vermintide is set to rely on sheer numbers of enemies to challenge the player. The ratmen hordes will come in multiple types, including some loading with rattling guns.
“Combining gritty combat with cooperative multiplayer action, Vermintide will provide the player with a completely new perspective of the Warhammer Fantasy universe, through the eyes of the heroes they play,” said Martin Wahlund, CEO of Fatshark. “Staying true to the fantasy lore, with familiar foes and locations, we look forward to winning the hearts of enthusiasts and newcomers with this new take on the Warhammer story”.
Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide will be coming to PC, PlayStation and Xbox One in the second half of 2015.
