Baldur’s Gate favourite, Minsc and Boo, are set to make a return. No, sadly not in a Baldur’s Gate 3, although that is sort of in the works, but in the D&D themed Neverwinter MMO, which is still toiling away in the gaming background.

The purple-faced ranger and his hamster companion will be making a cameo in the Elemental Evil expansion, which is arriving next month. Forgotten Realms’ free-to-play MMO will be getting new areas to explore, a paladin class, and a new storyline, involving Sword Coast cultists. It’s Minsc and Boo we’re really interested in though.

The pair will be wrapped up in the cultist storyline, and players will reportedly be able to explore alongside the duo, who will assist you in combat. The quirky ranger and his miniature giant space hamster companion were petrified as statues in their last outing, but they’re on hand when the player meets the Archdruid Morningdawn in the Protector’s Enclave. Together you must work together to investigate the rise of Elemental Evil.

Throughout their adventures together, players can expect a healthy dose of Minsc’s irrepressible and enthusiastic optimism. Minsc persistently encourages players to take the fight to the enemy, placing armored boots on elemental backsides with righteous fury,” said Neverwinter designer Simon Lucas.

As the story unfolds, the heroes discover the extent of the danger and must save Neverwinter from destruction. Through this quest line Minsc and Boo fight alongside the heroes, providing information and assistance in Minsc’s own, inimitable style. GO FOR THE EYES, BOO!

Any GD’ers given Neverwinter a go, what do you make of it? Tempted in by the appearance of the classic Baldur’s Gate duo?

Nice, good reason to give this game another go..... even though I've already played every single class to end game even before the first expansion released, lol

I hate the fact that F2P translates into my mind "Give us your money"

Ugh, MMO's got nothing to do with character. Hope they get hacked or something for this sacrilege.

Ummm, I beg to differ, Baldurs Gate and Neverwinter are both on the world of Faerun, and furthermore are both on the Sword Coast, there's nothing non-canonical about it, crossovers OFTEN happen in the D&D world, Take the presence of Drizzt Do'urden in Baldurs Gate II for instance.

DAmmit you beat me to his tag line; now if NWN had Mazzy or Viconia, it would be an auto buy.
