Roll7 has announced Not A Hero will be arriving on PC come May 7th. The studio’s first game since since arcade skater OlliOlli, Not A Hero is a 2D ultraviolent pixel-art shooter drawing heavily from the likes of Vanquish and Hotline Miami.

Maximum carnage is the key here, as former professional assassin Steve nabs a job as campaign manager for an anthropomorphic rabbit running for mayor. BunnyLord, as he’s known, wants to use Steve to offer a horrendously violent today, for a better tomorrow. Steve’s got access to a veritable nuclear armoury, as well as a number of nifty moves to outfox his unwitting opponents.

The Roll7 team really wanted to embrace the indie developer lifestyle by delaying the release of Not A Hero on several occasions for no discernable reason,” said Roll7 creative director, John Ribbins. “Unfortunately, we also have a publisher so we have to stop messing around and release it. So, May 7 I guess.

Not A Hero managed to gain headlines last when Roll7 added Curiosity: What’s Inside the Cube winner Bryan Henderson to the cast. He’s been placed in as a god, after basically being ignored by 22cans and Peter Molyneux for his prize of a place in Godus.

It’s out on May 7th, when it’ll be arriving on GOG, Steam and the Humble store.
