If you're one of the precious few who’ve seen Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft’s viselike grip over ease over the past few months, prepare to be dragged in kicking and screaming for more when the next expansion hits.

Pre-release patch data mined from Blizzard’s servers reveals the next significant content update to the dangerously addictive collectable card game will be based on World of Warcraft’s Blackrock Mountain area, including the Molten Core raid. Patch 8036 contains information on three previously unknown card backs, dubbed Molten Core, Ragnaros, and Golden Celebration.

Two out of three of the card backs contain code for license detection, suggesting an expansion needs to be bought to gain access to them. Veteran World of Warcraft players will recognise Molten Core as a launch raid, with Ragnaros being the incredibly powerful Elemental Lord ruling over it all as boss.

It was always obvious Blizzard would be pumping out expansions at a rate of knots, but now at least we know the next one to look forward to is likely themed around Blackrock Mountain. We’re sure to find out on March 6th at least, when Blizzard will be discussing the future of Hearthstone at PAX East in Boston.

Will you be tempted back into Hearthstone when another expansion drops?
