Far be it from me to judge, but apparently a lot of people take the Mortal Kombat story preeetty seriously. For a gaming that’s largely about slicing people’s faces off the story seems kind of a secondary, especially considering the average lifespan of Sub Zero and co is about 49 seconds.

Still, there is an honest to goodness storyline running through the previous nine iterations of Mortal Kombat, and Mortal Kombat X is no different. Set some years after the previous titles, everyone’s looking a little more wizened and grey, and there’s a few new faces cropping up looking keen for a bout.

"Taking place 25 years after the events of Mortal Kombat," writes Warner in a press release, "the new generation of characters will discover that Outworld is not the only threat they face. Fans will get a first look at the newest fighters to join Cassie Cage, including Jacqueline Briggs, daughter of Jax, Takashi Takeda, son of Kenshi and Kung Jin, descendant of Kung Lao."

And for fans of actual face-punching, NetherRealms has revealed Brutalities are making a return for Mortal Kombat X. Not seen since the heady days of Mortal Kombat Trilogy, these are essentially a poor man’s Fatality, that involves a brutally devastating combo to beat an opponent to a pulp. They’re basically a lot of punching but have no fear, you’ll still be able to rip out someone’s spinal column with your Fatality

Mortal Kombat X is out on April 14th worldwide, for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.

for starters, it's 2.5D, like any other fighting game(minus a couple exceptions), secondly, I doubt it will have a true campaign of sorts, that hasn't been seen since Mortal Kombat: Armageddon (unless MK9 has one, as I haven't played it), the storyline's told through arcade mode I believe, just like most fighting games (including Street Fighter X Tekken)

I think so, last time I see him, he's still alive. Also, MK9 has a story mode, which is separated from Arcade
