Oh, a new eight-minute gameplay demonstration of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt? Go on then Geralt. PAX East is raging on throughout this weekend in Boston, and CD Projekt RED has brought the eagerly anticipated finale to The Witcher trilogy to the party.

The gameplay demonstration features a full play-through of a side-quest in which Geralt is tasked with helping the inhabitants of a remote village fend off the attacks of powerful wyvern. The trek takes Geralt deep within the open-world wilderness, making use of his advanced Witcher-sense in order to track down the target to a suspicious looking cave network.

Senior designer Damien Monnier is on hand to demonstrate its dynamic world, with all sorts of events that can be stumbled upon while roaming around. The battle with the Royal Wyvern itself is pretty spectacular, with Geralt calling upon every trick in the book in order to bring it down.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is out on May 19th worldwide, for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

There is one thing that i dont understand.
They said de recommended specs for PC would let you play the game on medium/high 1080@30fps. So, how the hell, the PS4 and One can run this game on "high" settings at 1080/900p@30fps ?

Where did you read that it was on high settings for consoles?

At IGN

This is just a quote:
"an IGN commenter who is writing for someone who is at PAX, had this to say, clarifying it is the Xbox One version but similar to the PC at high settings"

my english isn't that good, so, i could be wrong.

Hmmm I'm not sure they run it at "high" after reading this quote "We spent the majority of our time on the Xbox One version and it was immediately obvious that the console versions don’t look nearly as good as the PC" taken form HERE

@Mvfcarvalho88: You didn't include everything. Shortly thereafter it shows that it runs on no slow down the same as the PC version at high settings. It doesn't say it matches the graphics quality, just that the game runs at a consistent framerate like the PC does at high settings.

With that being said, high settings doesn't automatically mean High settings. That could mean high settings as in high graphics options. If that makes sense.

@ZeroHour060 how i said my english isn't that good, but thanks to explain to me, now i get it, i'm just afraid to be disappointed by a lack of optimization for this game knowing that CDproject Red made a very god job in W2.

I'm expecting them to do the best possible job that they can. Don't expect amazing optimization like the Witcher 2 has. Expect an average console port. Wow, lots of expects.

This next-gen was just like the gen before it, in that games in the beginning were not very well optimized, except for a few. It takes time for developers to get used to the consoles, and then port it over to the PC. This game will be demanding, that's for sure, but it should still run steady if you meet the requirements.

Zero i think u will find that this is pc game first and most and ported to consols... another big thing is they are taking time to optimize so dont worry. I dont understand why so many ppl see some kind of downgrade? Youtube ruins quality.

problem is you cannot compare PC and console version,
at first consoles are not outputting 1080p natively, they need to upscale to achieve 1080p,
then from leveldesign point of view, console games are designed for lower memory consumption so there are smaller textures (not always less-detailed though), shorter detail distance, shorter view distance, shorter level of distance, less complex animations at distance and much more which all have huge impact on performance "optimization" :)

My biggest fear about this game is that they're gonna focus on the console versions and give the PC gamers a mediocre port. We've seen it time after time. Though I still want to believe that they'll treat their original fan base properly.

Pretty sure they are focusing on consoles considering how crazy the requirements are. The devs said the game runs on weaker hardware but didn't tell at which res/settings and no one's gonna buy it on PC to play at 720p low.

Well i'm telling the truth :) My mark is to play the game knowing as little as possible about it cause i know i'll be even more excited about it. Doing that cause of 2 reasons: 1) I love the first 2 games. 2) The game is made in my country.

Its funny Game-debate is still using that picture above for the article. Seeing as The Witcher 3 has been nerfed beyond reason. I booted up The witcher 2 and it (as of the W3 downgrade) looks better. The game looks nothing like that picture

I disagree buddy, I think it looks awesome. I cant see any downgrade compared to the other gameplay vids, tbh. Compared to that picture, yes you are right. But Witcher isnt about graphics anyways, I still enjoy w1.

I'm really excited for this game even though I have only played a few hours of the Witcher 1 and 2. I guess I have until May to finish both of them in between all of my other backlogged games. Still have Tomb Raider and Hitman unplayed in my inventory :p

I second Maramsp opinion, second hand hardware is way undderrated.
Maybe you could get a 7970 (ghz edition) that would be ca 250% of your performace and enough for every game az 1080p.

Your resolution is bringing you some trouble :) Btw I expect the game to run on max settings regardless of the amount of AA as long as that Ubersampling thing is not considered :P

Not only that, but also the control layout is for a controller. But that's not to say that they didn't just plug a controller into a PC, but I doubt it. :P

I'm thinking its on PC only because in a previous video at PAX CD red developer or designer said it was on PC but not max settings, here's the link:
