Keyboard and Mouse Gaming Combo Could Finally Get Replaced

Written by Neil Soutter on Wed, Apr 1, 2015 1:00 PM

PC gaming is all about offering something for every gamer. While PC computational performance enjoys the exponential advancement identified in Moore's Law, PC gaming peripherals certainly dont progress at the same rate. We always fall back to our trusty mouse and keyboard combo. Today we are finally experiencing VR headsets that might actually offer some interesting gaming, while not making us sick.

Elocution Labs Ltd, the tech guys behind the driverless car, have begun touring universities across the US this month to demonstrate their next awesome project. What's exciting is that Elocution Labs are also contracted out for consultancy by NASA. Elocution CEO, Dr. A. Foolsham told press that 'Through advanced ergonomic application, the VR experience can be completely immersive, as long as gamer sensory deprivation is achieved.

Using their patented Z-G Rotor XI inside their new Sensor Sphere, a soft padded pod that the gamer would inhabit, they can generate enough centrifugal force to simulate something close to zero gravity. From sensors fixed within the Sensor Sphere, a player wearing a VR headset can move their arms and legs with zero resistance to control their in game experience, all the while enjoying no external distractions.

The gaming applications for this experience are huge, but Dr. Foolsham says the sensationalism generated from the games media's attention, "will help promote the Z-G Pod across all industries", and they are hoping to explore the application within the health services and even key players in Hollywood have suggested an interest.

Before the Z-G Pod goes to market in 2018, Elocution Labs hope to finish their development by applying small straps inside the Sphere that will connect to key points around the users arms and legs. These straps will be used to apply resistance to the Z-G Pod user within. From a gaming point of view these resistor straps combined with the zero-g from the Pod, could enable game developers a way of delivering accurate levels of force at appropriate times to simulate nearly any experience to their gaming audience.

Having companies like Elocution Labs involved in gaming is the sort of lift the games industry can seriously benefit from. The Z-G Pod  project offers incredible scope across all industries and is certainly one we will be keeping an eye on. The affordability of a setup like this, for the average consumer, when it eventually goes to market is hard to grasp. But then lots of people seem to buy the incredibly pricey Titan X, so super rich gamers are out there somewhere.

What advanced peripherals would you be willing to spend on

You had every physics nerd at "...they can generate enough centrifugal force to simulate something close to zero gravity..."
Centrifugal force is not a real force. And it definitely cannot lead to weightlessness.
Nice troll. :)

Can't you use centrifugal to get gravity?

EDIT: Scratch that, it's centripetal.
