AMD, like a number of other hardware manufacturers, has its hopes pinned on Windows 10 to reinvigorate demand for PC hardware and builds across the board. To that end it’s certainly got an ear to the ground when it comes to the next generation of Microsoft’s operating system.

During a conference call this week AMD’s chief executive officer, Lisa Su, revealed the expected launch time frame for Microsoft’s Windows 10 OS, and it doesn’t sound like we’ll be having to wait too long to get our hands on it.

What we also are factoring in is, with the Windows 10 launch at the end of July, we are watching the impact of that on the back-to-school season, and expect that it might have a bit of a delay to the normal back-to-school season inventory buildup,” said Su, during AMD’s quarterly conference call with investors.

Microsoft said a little while back that we can expect Windows 10 to arrive in the summer, but has never gone so far as to announce an intended launch month. By the looks of it Windows 10 Technical Preview users seem to have a solid product on their hands, so we’d expect Microsoft to push it out fairly soon.

A July launch means Windows 10 is arriving in the next 3 months or so. Not long at all then until we’re kitted out with DirectX 12. The launch is sure to be a huge one, not just because of the aforementioned graphics API, but for the millions of users worldwide receiving the updated OS free of charge.
