It’s official, Total War: Warhammer is a thing! Clumsy nomenclature aside, Total War: Warhammer is The Creative Assembly’s first ever stab at a fantasy setting for its grand strategy series.

After months upon months of speculation, we’ve got our hands on the announcement cinematic trailer for Total War: Warhammer. Games Workshop’s high fantasy is the background for a new breed of strategy from the RTS legends at The Creative Assembly. The history books are thrown out the window for this latest outing, with gigantic beasts, flying monsters, crackling magical powers and legendary heroes leading the charge.

In the turn-based campaign game of statecraft & empire building, you will find the Old World an unforgiving and treacherous place, filled with endless war and cunning alliances alike,” writes TCA. “Whichever race you choose to play as and however you seek conquest, you will be faced with a conflict that threatens to tear the very fabric of reality asunder.

All of our tabletop favourites are set to hopefully make an appearance, including Chaos, Skaven, Elves, Dwarves, Orcs, Lizardmen, the Undead, and of course boring old Humans. It should be quite the shake-up for the Total War franchise, particularly with the addition of flying units and magical powers.

Total War: Warhammer will be the first of a planned trilogy of standalone titles, along with additional DLC released for each title. While we're not sure where Creative Assembly is heading with this, we'd love to see the possible of a Total War: Warhammer 40K title.

At the moment all we've got is a tentative 2016 release date to go on. I'm already planning on cultivating a lustrous beard in anticipation of its arrival.

This is not a little similar to GoT, GoT is more like Medieval Total War just in a fictional world :)

One guy wrote something like this on another article about a rumor for this game and I just find that hilarious:
"They totally missed the chance of naming it Warhammer: Total WAAAAGH!"
It would have been a great title!
Anyway, I'm quite excited for this game!

Medieval setting is my favourite. But tbh I think this could be a nice break from the TW standard of Europe/Japan. Completely new world different types of cities and locations. I don't know much about Warhammer but I'm looking forward to discovering it in a TW game

Disappointment? Medieval II was one of the best in the series. (Opinion of course.)

that remembers me of King Arthur, it had a similar gameplay but in a fiction style. I wonder why wound't they make a story for Total War Warhammer too :D It'd be amazing :)

Is this gonna be like all total wars? I mean no in-battle base building and what not, just pure TW mechanics with sci fi creatures. Cause if so, I just might like this game, first game with monestrs I'd like after skyrim.

All building was done on turn based campaign map and all fighting on battle map in all total wars, dont think they will change that
