Newfound developer Studio Wildcard has announced ARK: Survival Evolved, a promising looking stab at the survival genre. Stranded on an island, naked and without the tools to survive, you must use your skill and cunning to carve out an existence on an island overflowing with dinosaurs and primeval beasts.

In Ark: Survival Evolved you will have to hunt, craft items, build shelters, grow crops and even tame and ride dinosaurs in your quest to survival on this reptilian landscape. Sorry fellas, Chris Pratt looks to have beaten you to the punch on that last one…

Arriving on Steam Early Access in June, Ark: Survival Evolved will feature more than 30 dinosaurs and creatures from the get go, with more than 70 planned by the time the final release rolls out. There's a full ecosystem at work, with every beast needing sustenance to survive, including you. Food and water are of utmost importance, all needing juggling alongside a day & night cycle and randomised weather patterns.

ARK: Survival Evolved is coming to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later this year. Project Morpheus support is confirmed on PS4, so PC users can expect a host of VR support. A Steam Early Access version is planned for three weeks time. Ah, how convenient, the very same week Jurassic World is out. Coincidences abound...

Finally! A realistic open-world with big creatures (Dinosaur), also good choice of Engine.
I thought it'll be MP-only, until I heard it also has SP.

As long as I can slide down my brontosaurus' back and land in my rock car to peddle off to get a giant rack of ribs that tips my car over I'm in. :D

looks cool enough, i dont think it will be hard to "carve out an existence" when i find a minigun or something. If the game has that, "sh1t sh1t sh1t it saw me, run, run run, im going to die, omg im going to die, someone help me" factor, then count me in. I hope the wildlife will have some decent intelligence, like, while hiding behind a rock i would like to see a T-Rex chase after bob and actually know that will be the end of him, and be like "dammit Bob", not a "hit or miss" ai, but the type of intelligence that makes me know im fckd when i see that rexxy come into my camp.

I hope they keep working at the movement physics of the humans and dinosaurs. They look a bit stiff when running, jumping

Those are animations, but for really high quality animations mo-cap is generally required. And since this is a small studio, that's probably not gonna happen.
