Following the reveal a few days ago, speculation has been mounting as to when Fallout 4 is actually going to launch. Bethesda has been coy on the details, not so much as hinting at a rough time frame or even the year Fallout 4 could arrive.
This alone gives us just two conclusions - Fallout 4 is either an extremely long time away and Bethesda truly doesn’t know when it’s coming, or Fallout 4 is arriving very soon indeed, and Bethesda is planning a release window announcement at E3 2015.
Judging from that first trailer, which was entirely in-engine footage, and the four years Bethesda has had since the launch of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, logic dictates development of Fallout 4 is pretty far along by now. That, coupled with it likely running in pretty much the exact same engine as its predecessor, all hints at a 2015 release.
We’re not the only ones who think that either, a number of stores have already begun putting placeholder dates up for 2015. This includes Gamestop Italy, who put up a firm October 23rd release date on its store page.
That’s not all either; Bethesda’s online store originally had a TBA 2015 date on its Fallout 4 page, a date which has since been changed to just ‘TBA’. UK retailer has a vague date of 2015, and so too do Amazon and the US Gamestop. Crucially as well, Fallout 4 already has its own Steam page up allowing pre-orders, a move which typically doesn’t happen more than six or so months until launch.
Everything points to Bethesda know exactly when Fallout 4 is going to hit store shelves, and we reckon we’ll find out all the launch details during its E3 2015 press conference Sunday, June 14 at 7PM PT / 10PM ET / Monday June 15th 3AM BST.
I put a fair amount of credence in that Gamestop October 23rd release date, and in all honest I believe that's pretty much the latest we'll see it. Fallout 4 is likely very nearly ready to go, and if Bethesda can find a gap in a crowded market it's sure to take it.
Obviously Fallout 4 is huge and it's going to make millions whenever it arrives, but it's still preferable to get out ahead of other money-spinners like Assassin's Creed Syndicate, Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Star Wars Battlefront, and of the course The Witcher 3 expansions.
When do you think Fallout 4 is going to be out? Do you prefer short launch cycles or would you rather games are revealed earlier?
