Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance developer PlatinumGames has been teasing an E3 reveal for some time now, and it’s now been confirmed the Japanese developer is working on a Transformers game.

Transformers: Devastation is based on the original cartoon series, featuring a cel-shaded art style, and looks to be an action brawler with the mammoth machines squaring off against each other in urban environments. The Autobots arebusy taking on the Decepticons when Megatron somehow finds a way to harness plasma energy and ‘cyberform’ Earth.

There’ll be a total of five playable Autobots - Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Sideswipe, Wheeljack, and Grimlock, along with a deep character customisation system and a total of five different difficulty levels, each of which changes the enemy composition.

The cel-shaded visuals look stunning in these early screens; it looks as if PlatinumGames is really pulling off that Saturday morning cartoon vibe with aplomb.

At the moment we've only got a Best Buy store page to go on, which indicates Transformers: Devastation is in the works for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360. No word on a PC version yet, but we'd surprised if it doesn't make it to PC at some point. We should hopefully find out plenty more regarding this during E3 this week.

I don't know, I have to say that I am, atm, a little skeptic about the whole shade thing.. It looks awesome, really, but I kind of feel like it is a little too childish for some reason. Well, might be because it's still new. Anyway, I really am curious about the gameplay! Could be really awesome as far as I know :)

Awesome, can't wait to see a gameplay video showing off the mechanisms of the game! Being with transformers we can hope for something out of the ordinary. Maybe some sort of upgrade system for your bot? It has my attention :)
