If it wasnt for the glorious looking Battlefront, I feel that a lot of the EA conference would have been a wee bit pointless. But it doesnt matter because we have another taste of Battlefront, and that pleases us.

Ok, history time. The Battlefront series was originally inspired by popular total conversion mods, like First Strike or Galactic Conquest, that were springing up for various Battlefield titles. Lucas Arts then released their first Battlefront title in 2004. This years release of Star Wars Battlefront sees a reboot to the series. It replaces Battlefront III, which was cancelled when Lucas Arts was bought by Disney. Now EA DICE are controlling the SW Battlefront development, which means we get Star Wars on the Frostbite 3 Engine. Awesome!

Check out our similar Fallout 4 and DOOM summary.

Star Wars Battlefront Game Engine

Battlefront is built on the Frostbite 3 engine. Battlefield 4 was released towards the end of 2013 and that was the first game to be developed using Frostbite 3. The Battlefront trailers we are starting to see now already look amazing and the Frostbite 3 destructive terrain, weather effects, character models, AI, ballistics are primarily developed towards games like Battlefront.

If you want to get a feel for the sort of benchmarks you might achieve with your rig when running Starwars Battlefront then head over to our Star Wars Battlefront system requirements page. Or you can take a look at the Battlefield 4 frame rates page, although Battlefront is likely to be a tiny bit more demanding than BF4.

Warm up your lightsabers because here is the Star Wars Battlefront E3 teaser trailer

And next we have the Battlefront COOP Trailer as well

I really hope the single-player features in this game aren't going to be as disappointing as every other recent DICE shooter.

You say features as if there are more than one. xD
The only single player feature will be missions, which is actually meant to be for co-op play. But can be completed with bots.

So the speculation requirements are assumed to be recommended and not minimum......right?

Indeed... Those recommended requirements are not too far off from BF4 and Dragon Age Inquisition which also use Frostbite 3...

I wouldn't have believed these were actual gameplay videos if i hadn't seen these whacky ragdolls falling around the place.

Never understand because the minimum requirements are higher than the hardware using consoles. It is a good example of planned obsolescence.

Actually I think those are recommended... And that too they're only speculation...

I'm excited about this game. As long as it doesn't require an 'always online' connection to play....

It doesn't use Battlelog but you have to own Origin which is a form of DRM like steam .

Not Battlefront as I remember it. I know Dice are going their own way with the idea of Battlefront but I wanted instant action with bots and 32 player online. In SWB 2 there was a big battle mode with I think 100 on each side. Coop does look good but when you compare Battlefront 2015 to SWB 1 and 2 it feels like a step backwards. Ship to surface battles look cool though

"a massive multiplayer online.."
lol what a joke. 20 players is massive?
Perhaps ground war in COD is an MMO?
Kinda like how OC'n my CPU 30% makes it 30% Overall better

Nope... Recommended... BF4 and Hardline are both maxed out on such a rig with fluent frame rates and Battlefront uses the same engine...

Yeah, you can. Ps4 ran this at 1080p 60FPS, so your GPU is a lot stronger than that of a PS4.
