Batman fans will be able to step into the shoes of Barbara Gordon herself next week when the Batgirl: A Matter of Family prequel story DLC drops for Arkham Knight. The Batgirl will be playable for the first time ever in the series, and because it's taken place ahead of the events of Arkham City, it's even allowed Warner Bros to wheel out The Joker once more for some fun and games - and murder.

The first trailer has been revealed for the Arkham Knight season pass, and we can see giggling psychopath The Joker has kidnapped Commissioner Gordon. He’s holding him hostage at an all-new location at Seagate Amusement Park. Once Batgirl gets wind of the sinister plan she’s forced to head over and save her father, aided by Robin for some slick dual-play takedowns.

The Arkham series loves a contrived reason for things happening, and this time around The Joker has threatened to kill Commissioner Gordon if Batman shows up. Luckily, Batgirl’s got all manner of tracks of her sleeves, including advanced hacking abilities to gain control of objects and perform takedowns on enemies. You can already see the Oracle in here.

*Deep breath* Batman: Arkham Knight - Batgirl: A Matter Of Family is out on July 14th for season pass holders, before arriving a week later on July 21st for picking up individually, priced at £5.79.

That’s when it’ll be coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at least; there’s no mention in the press release of when the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight will get the DLC. We'll be sure to keep you updated on the whereabouts of Arkham Knight on PC.

They should be devoting 110 f'ing percent of their resources to fixing the game for PC, not coming out with DLC, what is this? Wasn't the game released june 22nd? And there is already DLC that you have to pay for? I call bull****.

The team responsible for fixing the port have nothing to do with the team developping DLCs, they don't have the same job/abilities, so no need to bring that up ;)

Pretty sure they're receiving orders from the same board of directors though. So why task one team with creating an add-on for something that doesn't work anyway?

It's also possible the DLC was ready even before the game was released.

I wouldn't even think of buying a DLC for a game that was not finished. For the console owners this DLC may be good. Still the game remains a major disappointment!

It's not broken on the platforms actually developed for by Rocksteady. PC version was outsourced but it's Rocksteady's fault the port was rushed out

You don't know if it wasn't Rocksteady's fault. We don't know much that happens between WB, Rocksteady, and Iron Galaxy Studios. It's all pretty speculative.

The DLC was done by a separate team. Warner Bros. Games Montréal. Thank goodness this will not delay the optimizing of the base game. So much Batman online yet I can't play because the PC release is broken. So many chances I might run into a spoiler. This is too much torture for a Fan of this series like me. Why did you do this to us Rocksteady. I believed in you. First I don't get to play as Batman now I can't play as Batgirl because the game is not fixed yet :'(

It's Rocksteady's fault they forced out the outsourced PC version before it was ready. The other versions developed by Rocksteady themselves are fine

What the... Fix the game! What is this?!
How am I meant to play this DLC if the vanilla game doesn't work?

There's like 100 people at the studio, surely it doesn't take nearly that many to fix a broken release

Which is...? Let me guess, the one I already know where Rocksteady rushed out the PC port that was outsourced by a random, smaller studio

No, that's not it. A third of the market can't play the game due to it being a bad port. You can't start building on something that never worked properly in the first place.

I never said anything different...it works fine on PS4 and XB3. The last third was outsourced by a random studio and was rushed out...

I'm pretty sure they started works on the DLC while developing the game itself, & I don't think it will affect the time it will take to optimize on PC cause there's a complete separate team for that.
