Platinum Games upcoming Transformers: Devastation is like a saturday morning injected int your eyeballs. The travesties that are Michael Bay’s movies are swiftly forgotten with this first gameplay trailer, offering up the most authentic cel-shaded recreation of the 80’s Transformers cartoon we’ve yet seen.

Originally announced back at E3, Transformers Devastation is from Platinum Games, the minds behind Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Bayonetta, and Vanquish, among others, so it’s got some serious action game pedigree behind it. Despite being hulking great trucks and the like that turn into battle robots, this is the same lightning-quick brawling PG has made a name for itself for.

Transformers: Devastation is out on October 6th for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.

What do you make of the retro-inspired Transformers: Devastation? Do you think Platinum Games can strike gold again?

I'm getting hyped by how it looks.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the actual gameplay is good and not repetitive mashing of buttons.

This game has so much potential to be awesome.... I think Michael Bay should be strapped in a chair with his eyelids pinned open and made to watch this trailer over and over and over until his eyes literally start bleeding from so much awesomeness.... because THIS is how a proper Transformers reboot should look!

As awesome as this game looks I disagree, I liked the art style of the Cybertron series better, I was hoping they would follow up on Fall of Cybertron and take the transformers to earth.

I loved the Cybertron games too, and I would totally buy into a follow-up to FoC that occurred on Earth! :-)

I love that they've gone with the G1 look, this makes me very happy :-)
