Fallout 4’s out in three months, but that hasn’t stopped a large portion of Bethesda’s fanbase asking when The Elder Scrolls VI will be out. The answer is in ‘a very long time’, so if you’ve been eagerly anticipating a sequel for the last four years, you might want to disembark from the hype train for a few stops.
Pete Hines, VP of PR and marketing at Bethesda Softworks, is in the know, and he claims there are no plans for a new Elder Scrolls game in the near to mid-term future, so we could have a wait on our hands. That’s not to say Bethesda isn’t already working on the game, but something as ambitious as The Elder Scrolls VI will surely be, will need plenty of time in the oven.
Hines confirmed as much in an interview, saying it would be “a very long time” before Bethesda would want to talk about it
At the moment Bethesda’s focus is firmly on Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls Online. Despite a shaky launch for the latter, it’s really improved over the last year, and the console launch has proven a surprising success. Expect plenty of additional content packs and support for TESO in the coming years.
Fallout 4 meanwhile is out November 10th, when it’ll be hitting PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Happy with getting Fallout 4 this year, or were you holding out hope for The Elder Scrolls VI? Which is your favourite out of the two series?
