Rollcage-inspired racer Grip has gone up on Kickstarter, along with a brand new trailer detailing the gameplay features set to be included. The team at Cage Element are looking for $657,000 CAD ($500K USD) to get the project funded, with the campaign already cruising past $33K in its first day.
Forget about the funding for a second though and take a look at Grip itself. Grip is Rollcage 3 in all but name, delivering blisteringly fast combat racing across alien planets. Running on Unreal Engine 4, Grip will have racecars capable of speeds exceeding 700km/h, which can drive across floors, walls and ceilings. The cars are mirrored too, so you can flip them upside down and keep on driving.
The full game is set to have a career mode, arcade races, time trial, online multiplayer and team-up play. There’s also Arena and Precision modes as stretch goals. Arena’s a destruction derby-type elimination game type, while Precision is driving along narrow stretches of track perfectly.
You can check out the Kickstarter page for yourself here. On the basis of its early backing it’s like this is a project that will be teetering on the edge of successful funding.
Platforms for Grip so far are PC and PlayStation 4, with an expected launch date of December 2016.
