Sony has announced that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will be launching on March 18th, 2016. The highly anticipated sequel to the globe-trotting treasure-hunting series will also be arriving in three different flavours, including the base game, a Special Edition, and a Collector’s Edition.
With no Rise of the Tomb Raider to play until late next year, PlayStation 4 fans will no doubt feel they’ve got a suitable replacement and then some in the shape of Uncharted 4. Unfortunately it also marks the first time the series has been hit with single-player DLC announced ahead of launch, with an exclusive mission available for those who pick up the Uncharted 4 Triple Pack.
Uncharted 4's Triple Pack is a season pass of sorts with a single-player level and two additional packs of multiplayer content, available to purchase separately or included with the digital deluxe version of the game.
The Special Edition of Uncharted 4 contains the game, a steelbook case, a 48-page art book, a sticker sheet and Naughty Dog points to unlock multiplayer content and character upgrades. Meanwhile the Libertalia Collector’s Edition includes all of the above, as well as three multiplayer outfits and caps, custom weapon skins, a taunt, sidekick outfits, an Uncharted 4 theme, and a 12” statue of Nathan Drake to adorn your mantelpiece.
There’s no pricing available for either of the special editions yet, but expect them to be available at quite a premium.
Buying a game's getting quite complicated these days isn't it?
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End was originally scheduled to release late this year, and would have faced a climactic battle with timed Xbox exclusive Rise of the Tomb Raider. It was delayed in order to provide developer Naughty Dog with additional time to get the game to the standard fans have come to expect.
If you’re after an Uncharted fix this year, then Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection is arriving on PS4 in October, collecting the original trilogy of games remastered at 1080p, 60fps.
