The second Batman: Arkham Knight patch surfaced last night. I know because I managed to grab it, but like the Caped Crusader himself, it disappeared into the darkness as Warner Bros appeared to roll back the update. My copy has since reverted back to the 1.01 version, but I had a brief look at what the patch has in store.

To grab the update you had to agree to the Batman: Arkham Knight beta program, which subsequently made the patch available for download. It weighed in at around 660MB. Booting the game up there was a number of new graphics options to tinker with, including Chromatic Aberration, Film Grain, and the option to increase the Max FPS to 60fps and beyond.

Elsewhere there’s a new Video Memory Usage graphic, and a High setting for Texture Resolution. This uses up a whopping 4GB VRAM if enabled at 1080p resolution, but we’re hopeful Warner Bros pulled the beta patch because this was still too demanding.

While Batman: Arkham Knight Patch 2 has since been pulled from Steam, this peek behind the scenes indicates the update isn’t too far away. Once it is we'll be sure to put it to the test and see if it's worth buying just yet.

Unfortunately and thanks to Mad Max and MGS I am almost no longer interested in this one. Maybe I'll use it as filler in October while waiting for Fallout. That's sad because I always enjoyed the Arkham games.

Well to be fair this PC port wasn't handled by Rocksteady. An outsourced small dev team worked on the PC version for like 30 days

AFAIK this is the interim update, then there will be another one for when the game is rereleased on Steam. So late this year, early next year I would guess.
