For people who love musty old sofas, smoking rooms and well worn slippers, there are few greater thrills in life than the arrival of Hearts of Iron IV. Paradox Development Studios' tactical grand strategy series set during World War II has proven an alluring pull for armchair strategists worldwide, allowing players to dictate and alter the events of the largest conflict the globe has ever seen.
Hearts of Iron IV ups the ante over its predecessors with a graphical and UI redesign, from which players have total control over one of the most authentic real-time war simulations around. Paradox have promised HoI IV will be the most accessible in the series yet, all the while supporting better AI and totally free-form sandbox-style gameplay. Before the Blitzkrieg commences, however, be sure to cast a tactical eye of the official Hearts of Iron IV system requirements.

For those of you who spied the Stellaris system requirements earlier today, these requirements for Hearts of Iron IV may be eerily familiar to you. They are in fact the exact same system requirements. Pretty much all of Paradox Development Studios' games run on the same Clausewitz Engine, designed for grand strategy titles. As a result, you can expect all system requirements for its games to be broadly similar. If you've got Europa Universalis IV and it runs ok, then you'll be fine with Hearts of Iron IV.
If you haven't played any of Paradox's recent games then rest assured, Hearts of Iron IV isn't demanding at all. This World War II strategy game is real-time but it isn't fast paced, so a high frame rate really isn't a priority here. In terms of the specs you'll need, these are once more right at the lowest end of the scale, so Hearts of Iron IV should be capable of running decently on all but the most ancient of PCs, ie more than 10 years old.
We are looking at perfect laptop fodder here for the HoI4 system requirements. The CPU and memory demands are low enough that Hearts of Iron IV should run on most notepads, provided they have a semi-decent level of integrated graphics of an extremely low-end dedicated graphics card.
Remember, you can always check out how well your PC can run the Hearts of Iron IV System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarking and performance from other users. Compare your graphics card to the Hearts of Iron IV GPU benchmark chart.

No surprises here in terms of requirements. But I do think you will a good cpu especially when you get further into the war with more units being created and more battles occurring all at once. Though I think the minimum will get you by just fine.

That first sentence about slippers and smoking rooms describes me to a tee. And yes, I am really excited for HOI4.

Another RTS title.Looks like RTS games are making a comeback.

well this is a grand strategy game. :D

I'm SO looking forward to this game, it can't come quickly enough for me. Very low system requirements by the way, it's going to be interesting to see how well the game runs when the second world war is at it's peak though. Grand Strategy's like these usually slow down (a lot) because of all the needed calculations.

eh, requirements don't matter, we all know that when you enter a large scale battle the fps will drop, just like in hoi3 or any other paradox game, but it is expected, I hope that grand strategies under dx12 will be better performing, not that you need a lot of fps in this kind of games.

For me HoI 3 basically died when I hit 1943 when the war between Germany and the Soviets hit its peak. Hopefully this won't happen in HoI 4 because I am definitely planning on waging war on the Eastern Front
PC Specs
Well if it performs as well as EU4, then the performance will be great.

That intel core duo 2 sounds good until you are trying to invade the soviet union with 250 divisions. I know my old laptop had a hard time with that in hoi3. So hyped for this game.
