Its sequel might be bearing down on us in a matter of months, but the team responsible for the Just Cause 2 Multiplayer mod is still beavering away on its chaotic creation. Just Cause 2 Multiplayer is just about to get a massive new update, bringing it up to a modest 0.2 version.

The mod is glorious but it’s also magnificently buggy and glitchy. This 0.2 update looks to quash an immense number of these problems, as well as adding a number of new features such as Steam Achievements, a new main menu, and the ability to script NPCs.

Scripts can be used for both NPC characters and to render inside the world, allowing AI companions to be imported, or wingsuits, claymore mines and submarines.

All of the changes can be accessed right now by opting into the public beta, which can be found by right-clicking on the Just Cause 2 Multiplayer mod in your Steam library and opting in using the Beta tab.

"Do not switch to this branch unless you are willing to actively help find issues and prepare your scripts for the release," the team advised. "If you don't know how to switch to the branch, we advise you wait for the official release." If you do switch, you won't be able to use servers running mod version 0.1.5. To switch back, opt out of betas again.

If you don’t fancy beta testing it then the Just Cause 2 Multiplayer mod version 0.2 should be rolling out soon.
