Capcom has announced a new game set within the Resident Evil universe. The Resident Evil name has been shed entirely for Umbrella Corps, a team-based online-only third-person shooter with first-person elements.

The game was shown off during Sony’s PlayStation press conference at the Tokyo Game Show, where Capcom revealed plans to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Resident Evil series with Umbrella Corps and the Resident Evil Zero HD remake. Umbrella Corps is pitched as a fast-paced team shooter where players can compete across a variety of game modes. All of them are designed around close-quarters combats and tight spaces, with wandering zombies populating each map to give players further problems to contend with.

It’s slightly unusual to see a AAA developer like Capcom adopt it, but Umbrella Corps is being created using the Unity game engine. It’ll be coming to PC and PlayStation 4, digital only, in early 2016, priced at $29.99 / €29.99 / £24.99.

No originality whatsoever, can't these companies do something, I don't know, NEW!
Here's an idea, give us a damn story, that's actually made by a good writer!

There are a billion other multiplayer online only games out there, that's doing the exact same thing, with the exact same ideas, with the exact same mechanics.

AAA company using unity... making a successor to the second most hated title in a series... I understand it, but don't understand it.

Difference between this and ORC is that this is going to be strictly PVP and a fast paced tactical shooter. Although ORC did have something similar for online.

Idk if you have played any of the older resident evil games, but Umbrella is a big part of the original RE games.

Finally it looks like they're creating a fine line between survival horror and action-adventure.Good job dropping the Resident Evil from Umbrella Corps cause it sure as hell ain't RE.

I also like how they didn't call it Resident Evil, that would've been bad

That's the thing they need to stop calling action-adventure titles resident evil when they're not survival horror.

Now this is how you as a game maker gain Respect with your consumer, doing so by understanding how much a game is worth rather then how much you can con outta your customers thats the best way to earn such a thing so im impressed good work
