Capcom has announced a new game set within the Resident Evil universe. The Resident Evil name has been shed entirely for Umbrella Corps, a team-based online-only third-person shooter with first-person elements.
The game was shown off during Sony’s PlayStation press conference at the Tokyo Game Show, where Capcom revealed plans to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Resident Evil series with Umbrella Corps and the Resident Evil Zero HD remake. Umbrella Corps is pitched as a fast-paced team shooter where players can compete across a variety of game modes. All of them are designed around close-quarters combats and tight spaces, with wandering zombies populating each map to give players further problems to contend with.
It’s slightly unusual to see a AAA developer like Capcom adopt it, but Umbrella Corps is being created using the Unity game engine. It’ll be coming to PC and PlayStation 4, digital only, in early 2016, priced at $29.99 / €29.99 / £24.99.
