Bethesda has released the second in its series of Fallout 4 videos looking at the RPG’s S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system. This latest educational trailer for vault dwellers looks at the importance of Perception, which is a one-way ticket to cheesing the combat mechanics with VATS (Vault Assisted Targeting System).

Fallout fans will remember VATS of course, the aiming system which allows players to target specific limbs of enemies. Targeting weaknesses is often trickier, but provides greater damage bonuses. Perception helps boost your accuracy in these situations, so you can riddle Radscorpions with bullets. Perception also allows you to sneak about and steal things in Fallout 4, or reconnoitre enemy levels and weaknesses from a distance.

Last week we took a look at the importance of Strength for wasteland survivors.

Fallout 4 is stepping out of the vault on November 10th for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Perception to loot? This is why I hate change! It is rarely ever for the better. I hope they did not change anything more. I like Fallout the way it is. (Call Me a Old Fogey) I still want to play it badly!

It's not that you need perception to loot it is that it helps you to do so. Think about it being aware of your surroundings whilst looting a house or something will help you avoid detection. Tbh I'm not really sure how it will work so I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I can understand why you like Fallout the way it is but all change can't be bad. What about building your own settlements, better weapon customisation and faction interaction? To me they're not bad changes. We need change in games if there was none then Fallout would still be a top down isometric rpg. Fallout has had to change to make it the way it is now. The way that you and I like it and it will continue to get better with change.

Play Fallout 3 and New Vegas while you wait for Fallout 4. They're great games and playing them will help you to understand the setting/lore in Fallout 4. I Can't recommend the Fallout series more

I'll second the comment above, also you can mod Fallout 3 and New Vegas, it has almost the same modding potential as Skyrim does, Nexus community got your back for your modding pleasure.
