Victor Saltzpyre might be lacking Geralt’s rugged good looks, but he’s every bit the Witch Hunter in Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide. A Witch Hunter by nature, Victor nevertheless looks a dab hand at rodent slaying to boot, cutting through the Skaven with bloodthirsty ease.

He’s packing a pistol to pick off foes at a distance and he’s not afraid to hack and slash when the time comes. He’s one of five playable characters in co-operative first-person shooter Vermintide, combining deadly ranged weaponry with the cut and thrust of melee skills. Players will be tasked with picking one of the heroes each before taking to the streets of Ubersreik, which has been overrun by the rat-like Skaven. From the looks it, it promises to be Left 4 Dead-style mayhem with hordes of enemies.

There’s plenty of Warhammer duds out there these days but Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide is showing plenty of promise in these videos. It’s from the folks at Fatshark who created War of the Roses and War of the Vikings, so it’s safe to say they know a thing or two about brutal melee combat.

At the moment Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide is tentatively scheduled for Q4 2015 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, although without a firm release date this late in the year, don't be surprised to see it slip into 2016.

I still don't know why fps when there is such a heavy emphasis on melee combat, i have yet to find a game where i can get immersed on first person melee. Good third person would be so much better. Maybe the cost difference is too big?

Yea 3rd person melee fighting is better for me to,but i guess its more expensive to make it 3rd person... Or they might add like a 3rd and 1st person view x)

Why is Witchunter fighting Skaven? Since when do Skaven need need to "judged?" By a witchunter. Despite the lore mix up, it looks fun.
