EA has announced the Star Wars: Battlefront beta will be running on October 8th through until October 12th. The beta test is going to be open to all on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. All that’s needed for PC players is an Origin account.
The Star Wars Battlefront open beta will provide players with access to three different game modes spread across three different planets in the Star Wars universe. It’s billed as a technical test so expect the servers to go under heavy load during the five-day beta, but it might be the only chance we get to give Star Wars Battlefront a go ahead of its November 17th launch.
The three modes coming to the beta test are:
Walker Assault on Hoth - This is a 20 v 20 mode in which the Rebels are tasked with defending against an Empire onslaught, complete with AT-ATs strolling across the battlefield. This map will be familiar to Empire Strikes Back fans, taking place in the harsh snowy climes of Hoth.
Drop Zone on Sullust - This is a lava filled planet playing host to fast-paced 8 v 8 matches. Players are fighting for control of escape pods which are dropping from the sky. The team with the most pods captured at the end wins.
Survival Mission on Tatooine - This is playable offline and online in either single-player or co-op, with Rebel players holding off waves of Imperial troops.
Will you be giving the beta a test-run to see if Star Wars: Battlefront is worth your hard-earned cash? Or is your mind already made up?
