Just Cause 3 Final System Requirements

So the system requirements for Just Cause 3 came out yesterday, taken from the back of the PC retail boxes. As it turns out these aren't the final system requirements. Just Cause 3 went gold and got sent to manufacturing way back in mid-October, and since then the official system requirements have taken a bit of a leap.

Just Cause 3 features one of the largest open-world sandboxes of all time, and it looks as if it comes at the cost of some heavy hardware to get it up and running. Built on a heavily modified version of the engine Avalanche used for Mad Max, Just Cause 3 is larger in just about every conceivable way - with jaw-dropping draw distances and Havoc physics ensuring realistic destruction. So after yesterday's mix-up, just what PC gaming hardware are you going to need for Just Cause 3...

Just Cause 3 Minimum System Requirements

  • OS: Windows Vista 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K 3.GHz or AMD Phenom II X6 1075T 3.0GHz
  • RAM: 6 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 2GB Video Memory
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 670 or AMD Radeon HD 7870
  • DX: DirectX 11
  • HDD: 54GB Free Hard Drive Space

Just Cause 3 Recommended System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-3770 3.4 GHz or AMD FX-8350 4.4 GHz
  • RAM: 8 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 3GB Video Memory
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 or AMD Radeon R9 290

Okay, so in yesterday's system requirements, as plenty of GD'ers pointed out, there was a bit of a gulf between the AMD and Nvidia demands. These have now been brought more in line with one another. Sorry if you'd got your hopes up looking at the previous requirements, but it now looks as if a GeForce GTX 670 or a Radeon HD 7870 are the bare minimum required. Which seems a little excessive to me, a GTX 670 handled The Witcher 3 with ease, so it'll be interesting to put this to the test.

The majority of the system requirements for Just Cause 3 remain much the same. The minimum Intel CPU jumps from 2300 up to an i5-2500K, while the recommended AMD CPU drops from an FX-9370 down to an FX-8350. Both of the recommended graphics card have taken a bump up, with team green seeing the biggest leap. Previously a GTX 760 was all that was needed for recommended specs, but now Avalanche reckon you'll need a GTX 780 or Radeon R9 390 - both high-end GPUs. It's also a bigger installer, asking for a massive 54GB of space. Let's hope we get the chance to pre-load...

Remember, you can always check out how well your PC can run the Just Cause 3 System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarking and performance from other users. Compare your graphics card to the Just Cause 3 GPU benchmark chart.

Meh... most of the "minimum" system requirements are so exaggerated these days... I'm pretty sure with some tweaks, even my rig will be able to run it

Well.. if these requirements are kind of correct you are going to have a hard time with that GPU probably. on 1080p at least :/

Don't worry, at that resolution, we can go medium to tweaked high.

I dont think its going to be that bad, Developers seem to really be overestimating their requirements on purpose these days. I think you will run it fine. but keep in mind your i5 is 3 gens old now and not really considered "beast"just good

The rig is a beast. "Beast" are not subject to one item but overall. Thats my perception.

Well say goodbye to the more reasonable requirements it originally had and say hello to more bloated, ott requirements, hopefully it's as well optimised as Mad Max and these are just yet more ridiculous requirements for PC gaming in 2015.
