We're moving into day five of the 12 Games of Christmas now, and it's the turn of a pair of strategy giants for an epic showdown. Paradox and Colossal Order came along and banished SimCity to the depths of gaming hell where it belongs with the arrival of Cities: Skylines. It's truly one of, if not the most impressive city-builders of all time. It's got a great community, insane mod support, and practically limitless potential to create the city of your dreams.

Not to be outdone, Blizzard struck back this year with the return of an RTS titan - StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void. Giving index fingers the world over a thorough workout, Legacy of the Void breathes new life into a strategy classic, providing a new campaign and making some crucial changes to speed up multiplayer matches. Couldn't give a Pro-toss about StarCraft II? Was Cities: Skylines a demolition job? Well there can be only one winner in this showdown, so get your votes in...

The winner of yesterday's fourth round battle between Pillars of Eternity and Life is Strange was a bit of a landslide. Despite the former picking up a perfect 10 here on GD, Life is Strange absolutely stormed the voting. Clearly there's plenty of fight left in Max Caulfield.

12 Games of Christmas Rules

In celebration of all things festive, we thought there was no better way to salute some of 2015's biggest games than a good old-fashioned punch-up. A battle to the death if you will. 12 of this year's most memorable titles will be going head to head in a series of knockout rounds over the next 9 days, and there can be only one winner.

To make things a little spicier we'll also be giving one winner a game of their choice from the 12 entries on December 24th. Perfect for a spot of gaming in the holidays. All you have to do to win a copy of that game is tweet your support for any game in the 12 Games of Christmas, using the links provided in each article, and we'll pick a winner out of all of the tweets after the final bout. Multiple tweets for different games will count as additional entries to the competition. Tweeting is separate from the poll and does not count as a vote in the 12 Games of Christmas.

How the community voting works

Each day at 18:00 GMT two titles will battle each other. Whichever title receives the most votes in the poll wins, and will then go through to the next round. 12 games in total will be battling away, and the first six rounds will take place from today and over the next five days - one battle per day. The six games that win will make it through to the semi-finals, where three further 1v1 fights will take place. The winners of these three battles will then make it to the three-way final to decide the ultimate game this Christmas.

The winner of this knockout competition is Game Debate's favourite choice of game to be played this Christmas, doing its best Rocky impression and swatting aside the rest of the competition like flies.

Each bout will last 24 hours, and the winner is whichever game receives the most votes in the poll, which can be found towards the bottom of each article.

Tweet to be in with a chance to win a copy of the overall tournament winner on Christmas Eve.

Vote in our poll at the bottom to help determine this round's winner.

Cut your nerve appendages people! Amon made you vote for Cities Skylines and now he will conquer the universe. I know it hurts to be alone in the void but this is the only way!

both are amazing. skylines is too easy though, which is normal for all paradox games, but really fun just like the rest of them. While SC2 has much more action, strategy, timing, execution(micro and macro) and such.

Witcher 3 has been selected as the GOTY at Game Awards. I don't think result will be much different in GD.

I can't vote this time. I never played either of these 2 games, but I'm not even inclined too. However, I'm curious what the outcome will be. I think Starcraft will win since to my knowledge it's got a bigger fan-base...

That community is what made realize I have a life. Now I'm enjoying life, going to the beach, making music. And those "noobs and afks" are still sitting in their rolling chair getting fatter and angry at their team, breaking keyboards and mice perhaps even their monitor. xD

why are you telling me this? I said only the difference. SC 2 and Skyline are 2 different genres and games there is no point of saying who is better. I don't vote for any of them it is like fifa and baskteball next on the list.. no point.
