Yesterday saw the seemingly untouchable Grand Theft Auto V book the first slot in the final, but who's it going to be up against? Next on the agenda are Ubisoft's sublime Rainbow Six Siege and Dontnod's immensely popular Life is Strange. The former had a shaky beta but has blossomed into one of the greatest tactical shooters around, and it's hoping it can score a head-shot when it steps into the arena with Life is Strange.

Dontnod's episodic adventure surprised us all though, not just by being good, but being one of the best games of the entire year. Max Caulfield's Twilight Zone-esque adventure was equal parts twee teen drama and the creeping horror of the unknown. Life is Strange has built up one of the most fervent fan followings around, but will it be enough to knock Rainbow Six Siege out for the count?

12 Games of Christmas Rules

In celebration of all things festive, we thought there was no better way to salute some of 2015's biggest games than a good old-fashioned punch-up. A battle to the death if you will. 12 of this year's most memorable titles will be going head to head in a series of knockout rounds over the next 9 days, and there can be only one winner.

To make things a little spicier we'll also be giving one winner a game of their choice from the 12 entries on December 24th. Perfect for a spot of gaming in the holidays. All you have to do to win a copy of that game is tweet your support for any game in the 12 Games of Christmas, using the links provided in each article, and we'll pick a winner out of all of the tweets after the final bout. Multiple tweets for different games will count as additional entries to the competition. Tweeting is separate from the poll and does not count as a vote in the 12 Games of Christmas.

How the community voting works

Each day at 18:00 GMT two titles will battle each other. Whichever title receives the most votes in the poll wins, and will then go through to the next round. 12 games in total will be battling away. This is the second battle from the semi-final. The six games that won in round one have made it through to the semi-finals, where three further 1v1 fights take place. The winners of these three battles will then make it to the three-way final to decide the ultimate game this Christmas.

The winner of this knockout competition is Game Debate's favourite choice of game to be played this Christmas, doing its best Rocky impression and swatting aside the rest of the competition like flies.

Each bout will last 24 hours, and the winner is whichever game receives the most votes in the poll, which can be found towards the bottom of each article.

Tweet to be in with a chance to win a copy of the overall tournament winner on Christmas Eve.

Vote in our poll at the bottom to help determine this round's winner.

Life is Strange is going to win. I voted for Rainbow Six, but it is hard to pick one over the other because they are both really good games.

best indie game this year.i'd argue it's better than siege since it has an excellent single player story rather than online-centric gameplay.

It's not an indie game, it's published by Square Enix!

published sure but it has an indie vibe to it.and i don't think it has a huge budget so it's not AAA.Somewhere in the middle perhaps?I'd like to think it's indie since it popped out of nowhere.and look at the price.costs like an indie game.

indie games (Independent video games) are created by individuals or small teams without video game publisher financial support. so no it's not indie

i think life is strange deserves the vote for being the biggest surprise of the year.siege may be flashier but nothing beats a good ol' story.also a multiplayer only blockbuster aaa vs an indie point and click?this poll is laughable.

Life is Strange was funded and published by Square Enix, it's not indie.

Ori and the Blind Forest was created by an indie studio, but Microsoft picked up publishing rights later in its development.

Voted LIS because a good fps game with a "meh" single player campaign is something I'm not high on anymore.

What? Rainbow Six is a multiplayer game, the game is NOT meant to be played alone.

true that, but i think previous Rainbow had single player campaign with adequate storyline to say the least

You can play it alone just most people prefer to play it online and of course not listen on what to do.

I'm a sucker for a good story. Though, I still enjoy my FPS and just mindless fun. Though, if we are just saying online multiplayer fun vs a original game with a compelling story. I would have to go with the newcomer.

I know the fan-base for Rainbow 6 is huge, but despite that my heart goes with Life is Strange the beauty in the story this game offers is unforgettable.

But Life Is Strange, definitely. Really brought something new to the table - and it's an experience I'll never forget.

I like both games a lot, but Life is Strange has my vote because it was something completely different to other games that I've played this year that I really enjoyed.
